Secondary accidents are common during recovery. One of our crews burned out an airliner years ago when picking it up off a runway. Turns out that an engine had been hiding in a fuel tank, so plenty of fuel and sparks when starting to move the big plane on the concrete.
I was doing a turboprop job in Ireland two(?) years ago and after this photo we were moving it on pavement. It was windy as hell on the south coast of Ireland - something like 30-35 kts when we were trying to manhandle this big kite into a certain spot.
(Me with no helmet in blue jacket.)
One of the local crane guys got his fingers between a prop blade and the pavement a few feet away from me. The prop tips stayed attached; a couple of his tips didn't.
Yup, shit happens.
