When my 610 did a main bearing and bits of steel tore thru the engine, $4200. Parts list was long and extensive, all bearings replaced, new rod, piston, re-nikasilled cylinder, valves, seats. The gear box was fine though. All genuine husky parts. Labour was definately the cheapest part... And there was some minor diagnosis $ before we realised how bad the situation was.
I should think a higher volume seller like KLR and availability of parts should see the cost lower than 5k! Anything more than my $ i was looking for another bike to raid. Having done a re build over purchasing another bike, i should have taken the 2nd option.
You soon forget finacial pain once you turn the throttle in the dirt albeit nervously
