Lack of recognition disappoints Reeve
Reeve left for Argentina on Thursday where the rally begins early next month, with no official from the Zambia Motor Sport Association or the National Sports Council of Zambia seeing him off.
In an interview, shortly before departure at Kenneth Kaunda International Airport, Reeve said it was disappointing that there was little interest in the rally from Zambians.
"I am very disappointed, there is very little interest apart from the newspapers and a few private companies," he said.
"What the country needs to realise is that this Dakar Rally is the world's biggest motor event on the planet. The fact that Zambia is there is an achievement; it's sad that Zambia doesn't recognise that."
