I had a similar, stripped thread problem with my 1100 gs. (User error, based on incorrect reading of a new torque wrench...GAAAAH!!!!)
I took it to Morton's and they repaired it. I think they did it while I waited too.
I do not recall it costing a lot of money either.
Good luck with it. Hopefully it will be an easy fix.
