Death Valley, Day Five

Thanks to:
bomose - keep Death Valley on your list, just not in summer.
TurbStLCards - Kolob Reservoir. Great place for a bike pic.
TheAdmiral - Arm-chair tourism. Yeah, it's fun. But the TW won't cost much in gas. Death Valley has some nice dirt routes.
ringokelly - Yeah, Death Valley is definitely a worthy moto destination.

Yesterday was in Bryce with the family. Fun hiking down amongst the hoodoos. Some snow, not much ice. Lots of mud.

Now to complete the Las Vegas trip. This is the final day, from Las Vegas back to St. George. Rendezvoused with wife at son at MGM Grand. Fun night and a slow morning. They had the car so made fast time on I-15 back to St. George. I opted for the scenic route.

Found the Pawnshop guys driving north on Las Vegas Blvd. Not such a nice part of town.

Some art on the back of their building.

Huge lines at the Pawnshop store, so I quickly moved on. Across the parking lot was this little gem.

Left Las Vegas via Rt. 147, Lake Mead Blvd.

Quick arrival at the entrance station. Bring your National Park Pass for this road.

Heading north.

Stopping in for a little exploring at Government Wash Boat Launch.

At the shoreline of Lake Mead.

A little further up . . . stop at Callville Bay Marina.

Obviously . . . the sign means that someone drove a motorbike onto the pier. Must have been an inmate.

Versys at the shoreline.

Looking down on the marina.

The Old Spanish Trail came through this way. Lots of familiar territory on the Spanish Trail.

Remnants of the abandoned town of Callville on the bottom of Lake Mead.

Typical desert scenery. Not quite Death Valley, but still very nice. And close to home.

Great road and very few cars.

Mountains and erosion patterns.

Saw this traffic stop from afar. Looked like a ticket.

The "Bowl of Fire" -- all visible from the main road.

Silhouette of desert plant.

Final glamour shot of the Versys. Great bike for a five day road ride through Death Valley.

Late afternoon light.

Home to St. George. Five days of excellent riding to Death Valley. Thanks for following along.
