98% of my riding is on the street. I do not wear additional knee pads under the armor on the pants. For my purposes, the overland fit was not good. YMMV. Kinda sux, because they are advertised as a more touring oriented pant. I've heard the same thing about the badlands. Jacket fits great, pants are goofy. This sux when you're spending over $1200 on a gore tex setup.
For me, Olympia gear works well. Priced right, tough gear.
