I have a really big arm now, and my neck and leg (which have also been bitten), are swelling as well.
The area is totally hot and inflamed.
Could it be a horsefly?? I does hurt quite a bit, but I'm not sure what to do about it.
They all bite. Typically there are deer flies, look like a size of a house fly that attack and bite in numbers, horse flies larger than a house fly, that have a fierce bite but normally individuals. There are black flies that will get under your hair, back of the ears. There are no see-ums which are very small and don't hurt bad but itch like hell. Then there are the plain old mosquitoes.

All can cause swelling if you have not been exposed to them. Antihistimanes will reduce swelling and a wash with soap (I find ivory works as it has little scent) will relieve itch
