This is a very interesting report. So many war memorials! In the States I think we have a view of the war that is too one-sided. Yes, D-Day was a crucial turning point, at the cost of many American lives, but we should also recognize the battles on the Eastern Front and the countless sacrifices made there. I think the fighter plane on the plinth a few pages back is a LaGG-3, but I cannot be certain. The latest one I think might be a Ilyushin IL-2 Sturmovik ground attack aircraft. I'll be interested to see how you find the Karelian Peninsula, having read some reports on that area by Russian ADVers. Cheers!
