Edit: Found it. It looks like it is near Andrew Molera state park.

Here is a map of the area. that road that goes inland is the old coast highway. When we came up to it there was a sign that said "Andrew molera state park" and it was opposite of that.
The star of the following map is the gas station/deli that the dude gave me the map. you can see it wasnt too far from it.
