Well, is not everything about power, there are also sensations as you said.
I remember on my old XR600, when took out out the insert from the muffler , sensations were quite different than with it mounted. Maybe power increase was not so great but i felt like the engine was breathing better so throttle response was better on any circumstances.
Maybe this is what you feel with your leovince installed.........on your butt, as you said
