What the hell is ridin doing these days...?

Life is good. Thanks to an inmate I'm in a series of interviews for one of two permanent jobs at a company I'd really like to work for. [EDIT: Didn't get either of them. Fuckers.] I'm still poor but that's OK. I'm playing Doctor with a 28-yr old medical student. My apartment AND car still haven't been broken into yet and my bicycle's not been stolen. My daughters still love me a lot. I hope to have a great job in April; meanwhile, I'm getting ready for a 14-state cross country trip.

Yes, it's that time again...another boost to oil companies' profits! I am leaving New Mexico Thursday, 3/20, to fly to Connecticut and recover the Tiger. Some may remember that the road trip that brought me out here in January could not include it, by reason of towing capacity (lack thereof actually) on my teensy little yellow Ford. But now the time is right, the money is set aside, and the Tiger and I shall be reunited.

After some family stuff (meh) and some wrenching on the bike with a friend (yay!), I'll set out Monday, 3/24. As always I'll be staying off the interstates and on as many scenic routes as possible. Here is the rough plan of the route:
  • Down through New Jersey to Cape May: Garden State (ugh) to Tom's River, then west through the state forests, south to Rt. 9 and the ferry
  • Along the coasts of Delaware, Rt. 1, Maryland and through that big tunnely-bridge thing, Rt. 113 nd 13 thru VA
  • South along the Carolina coasts, staying to the shores as much as possible
  • Clip through Georgia, Rt. 17, and then into central Florida (Ocala)
  • Back up by Tallahassee, Rt. 19, 98, and Pennsacola to Alabama
  • Mississippi and Louisiana coasts, sticking sorta to the swamps to Texas
  • Gulf Coast of Texas down to Corpus, then across and back up along Big Bend, Rts. 44, 83, 90, then a big loop into and out of the park
  • ...and into New Mexico from the south; Rt. 285 (etc) back here.
No idea how long it'll take or how many miles it'll be...I'm guessing 8-10 days. Then I'll be all productive and everything.
