This is my issue with Olympia gear also. It was the deal breaker that kept me from buying a pair of airglide pants.
With my AST it's not an issue because the jacket is already waterproof. The liner just adds warmth (and redundant waterproofing).

seems to have this:
Two Stage Waterproof Liner Jacket - Sturdy wind and water proof rip stop nylon shell with removable Dupont ThermoliteŽ insulation, rib collar, two water proof pockets and interior cell phone pocket.
It's a good idea that I hope makes it's way to their other jackets.
The lady at the bike shop said the reason that Olympia gave her was that a 2 piece liner was a lot more bulky than a single liner..
