1975 DT400 Special Edition

This bike was purchased about 3 years ago with the goal of riding it cross country on the Trans America Trail (TAT). The full story of the western section is HERE. Go to post 341 and read to the end for the full story with pictures.

This pic is the bike about to depart Monticello, UT

The "special edition" is the special prep put into the bike for the TAT ride. 3.7 Gal Vintage Factory Desert Tank, 2 Kolpin 1.25 rear fuel tanks, 2 litres of 2 smoke oil plus the factory reservoir, and lots more.

Also took along this bike as a backup in case of mechanical failure - fortunately it did the 1,300 miles on the chase trailer!

The backup bike was similarly prepped, but had a bit less exotic shocks, and sported a vintage Don Vesco desert tank. The front bottles ended up being water bottles on the ride, and the mounts were made of aluminum bicycle water bottle cages.

Sorry if' you've seen these before, but you asked for pics of 2 stokes!
