Yep, they're definitely worth the cost and they do the job. My old XR600's plate looked like a potato chip. It had huge dents and gouges in it. This V-strom plate is the thickest I could find (3/16" aluminum) and the damage shown is after only two rides.
I'll have to take a picture after each off-road adventure to show its deterioration over time.
I have a piece of diamond plate 1/4" Aluminum in my garage that is big enough to fabricate a real skid plate for you.
