My R80ST

I've owned a number of different bikes over the years, but they were usually dirt bikes or dual sports. I was looking for a R80GS, but in my research I came across a comparison of the GS and ST and thought, "Wow, best of both worlds."

That same week I found a local ad (San Diego) for an R80ST from a guy who was moving out of the country. It was in great condition with 27k miles and I made him an offer. Before accepting my offer, he wanted to first ask his son if he wanted the bike, and a few (long) days later I bought my first street bike.

What a great ride! Not a rocket by any means, but its simplicity, bottom and mid-range torque, and especially the handling of the ST puts it in a class of its own. On top of that, it was not mass produced, so we own one of the few limited number BMW motorcycles made. What a score!!!
