my 04 had the original battery. and technically it was not failed. however left alone for ~30 days the battery would not have enough capacity to start the engine without a little boost.

not sure why Braille makes the statement regarding temps. I do know that lead acid batteries in general do not like getting super cold..... somewhere there has to be some battery techno geek with pie graphs and reams of white papers about the reasons.... For me I went and got a battery maintainer/charger like this Optimate to take care of it while I am not riding
