yeah this setup wouldn't be the best for woods riding, this bike spends most of its time though in the open deserts of Eastern WA and Eastern OR so the extra width isn't a problem. You can always remove the bags if your going to do a day of tight single track.

They are pretty handy around town also, my father rides it quite a bit locally in the summer.
