bashplate/fireplace

I installed the adv spec crash bars and GiT bashplate on my 800GS. Crash bars work great in the field but have a question about the bash plate-

At one point during a trail ride in the woods my buddy drew my attention to the growing bushfire merrily crackling away inside my bashplate: You can see the soot on the pipes below

Question: any suggestions (other than don't ride wooded trails with dry leaves") on how to avoid torching myself in the future?

thanks

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back.. Concerning all acts of initiative and creation, there is one elementary truth : that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too... Whatever you can do or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius..Begin it now.
