I would like to tell you the story about our trip to Greece. Elke (my wife), Selina (our daughter) and Andreas (it's me). We rode from Germany to Greece / Pillion with our two MZ Bikes. One solo and one hack.

It was a journey full of premieres.
The first family trip with bikes.
    Our first familiy camp.
Elke, she has her licence since 2006 ...
And she never drove her vacation-bike before. I build it only for that trip.

And please ... be patient with my english ...

Ready to go. This sign means "this may smoke" and it means the two stroke motorcycles of the GDR of the past.

Our first break after 3 hours. It was hot but the bike were running perfect.

The last break before we stopped for the first night. Fluids for us and our bikes :1drinkElke was a bit exited concerning the trip. But our daughter, full of experiences, told her mother everything she got to do :D

Done. After 450 km on country roads we arrived at Sepps home. Sepp is a friend of mine and for the next day we and his family planned to go to a motorcycling-meeting in the Alps - the legendary Soelkpasstreffen.

There he is with his sidecar for all of his 3 kids :clap

    Selina found a suitable toy.

At the highest point of the Soelk-Pass a forcible storm found us. But under cover of a refuge it was easy to wait.

It was also time for a break. It was hard for my MZ-hack to climb up the pass ... mostly in the first gear. Now there was time to cool down.

    To be continued later ...

OK ... after that storm we arrive at the rally.

Because of the weather the atmosphere wasn't the very best :D but after a barbeque it became much better.

    Experts ... :evil

During the night the solo dropped down because of a flat tire ... :huh

But I was not unhappy. Finally something to tinker.

    I love it.

But it was not the last one for that trip :evil

    Just kids :D

Serenity ... she had to repair her hack and he took some pictures :rofl

    My familiy.

    Weather changed.

Sepp showed his kids some ... mhhh nature study.

After that rally we took our way to the south. Crossing the Alps and arriving in Italy. The weather in Italy was untypical rainy and stormy. So, we decided to have a break in a Hotel. No campground no wet tent ... just a warm shower, an opulent dinner and a warm and pillowy bed :evil The next day Italy shows us its best side. Sunny and warm.

After a short trip from Venice to Ancona, we arrived in the port of Ancona, waiting for our ferry that sails with us to Greece.

The bad weather came back to us and brought a lot of water to the port :D

For loading the crew called us as first. Maybe because of the stormy weather and our daughter. Elke was very afraid because of the wet and slippery ramp. She was to careful and the MZ not strong enough for that steep ramp. The motor turned off ... I brought my hack in the ferry, running back to Elke, started the engine and sprinted into the ferry ... a bit to excessive.

After that sWith stormy weather we left Italy.

Because of this weather we decided to sleep inside the ferry.

    Greece :D

We left the ferry and found a warm and sunny Greece. We were happy and prepared ourself for the upcoming ride.

It was a ride across central Greece, over the Katara-Pass, passing Volos and finally Pillion. A peninsula wih a wonderful landscape and romantic coasts. But first of all ... I had to change a broken fuse :huh

    I need a break ... to be continued :D

    One more for tonight.

We arrived at the campground that was our home for the next 17 days. A well organized campground with all facilities a family needs.
We just setup our tent and boarded the tavern :freaky

The following morning brought us a wonderful summer weather.

    Our kitchen :D

The private beach of this campground.

    Treasure of the backyard.

The daily routine was coming over me ... :D

We found birds in the back-country

    Explorer

And the connection to the world.

A good place to make plans for ... new a new hack :D

Parking area for our MZs ... with ocean view.

The geat landscape of the Pillion.

I drove about 1000 km only with the solo MZ within the 17 days. Als about 500 with the hack. Just to explore the back-country.

We found nice villages. Lonesome at this time of the year.

When I read this, I remember my (our) trips with sidecar and trailer (behind it :D ) or two sidecars with our kids. It was always great. From Spain to Norway or Scotland to Tjechoslovakya, it did not matter. Nice countries, nice people, nice bike-riding and everything with your loved-ones with you. :clap

Some people say they stop riding because of the kids. No way. :huh

Very nice report, Andreas. Hopefully we'll meet again soon. I will follow the continuing story of.....

Wow! The real THING! A 2-stroke MZ!

Nostalgia pix for me... There was once a brand-new dark-green 250cc MZ with my name on it in the store - but my family intervened and it did not happen.

In that sense, good old days...

Hey guys, have a great trip!

After some days full of sun the rain found us again an attend us for 3 days.

We prepared our camp and enjoyed it.

One morning, I found the front tyre of the hack flat ...

As you know ... I love it :rofl

There was a leaky seam ... the circle one ...
So I didn't repair it, I just bought a new tube.

    What a perfect day ! :D

After 3 days, the period with rain was over and the sun came back :clap we used that time for some trips to the wild east coast of the Pillion.
Unfortunetaly there were no campgrounds for us but it was really no problem to go there by bike every day :D

These trips to the east coast were the best way to bring back your soul into balance ...

    The beach of Mylopotamos ...

    Lunchtime ...

View down to Volos from an altitude of 1000 m.

    Down in Volos ... Altitude 1m :D

    I'm hungry now ...

    I don't know what this was ...

... but we found it at this very nice and lonesome beach.

I have to go back there asap!

    Loudness ...

She always has to pose ...

At the end of our time there we made a trip to the south of the Pillion.
    Paltry landscape ...

    With lonesome villages.

Again and again ... stopping for a break, looking and amazement.

(uhhh - do I really have to translate that??? - ok, I'll try:
A couple of yeaars ago, my dad was exploring Greece with his bike (guess what bike...). Unfortunately, I wasn't able to go with him. He said, it was as f..... hot as beautiful - I really know, what I've missed. Great RR.)
