    Hi there,

My KTM 640 Adventure makes a LOT of noise when braking. I have been told it's because the brake pads are of the "metal" kind.

    Any info/suggestion ?

    Cheers,
    M.

any drilled rotor will make a hissing noise while the brakes are applied. get used to it.

Mine don't make any more noise than any other brakes most of the time. I do notice that they will scrape a bit more when dusted with dry dirt than my GS and don't seem to clean themselves off as quickly either. I haven't seen any inordinate wear of the disks so I haven't been too concerned.

Quite possible mine are not the stock brake pads. My Adventure was a demo setup for a magazine test. They may have swapped out the pads along with the other mods they did.

I don't use my brakes much anyway.

I should pop mine off and slightly sand them to see if I can eliminate the howl... scares some folks when I come screamin' into a crosswalk! :rofl

My 01 Dakar rear brake used to squeal like a stuck pig. Brembo pads, dealer not much value in resolving. Last week I got so pissed of with it I got a replacement set of EBC kevlar pads and they are great. For $41 Aus I have better feel and absolutely no noise instead of scaring the shit out of poor pedestrians as I pull up at the lights.
