Last weekend I was doing some trail riding and my bike started to fall over to the left. As I struggled to hold it up my right leg hit the exhaust pipes and gave me a pretty good burn. The pipe hit just above my boot and burned me through my jeans which were already soaked with water. If I had a bash plate it probably wouldn't have happened.

Ordered a MotoOverLand, just waiting for it to arrive.

That's how I broke a mirror off (similar fall). 17 dollars for the bolt to fix it.

Neosporin. nice pic though, yet it still pains me to see that. How did everything hold up? What do you have on for crash bars and hand guards?

You may want to invest in some riding pants. That would also have prevented your leg from getting burned. Jeans FTL...

Well, it's good to know that I can cook a hot dog on the pipes in case of emergency. Thanks for testing it out for the rest of us!

Thanks, looks worse than it is.
I have gear for me and the bike on the way. This excursion was unplanned. I only had the bike a week and the first time I saw dirt I just went in.

My leg was the only casualty.
The bike did remarkably well. All I have at this point is the Givi crash bars and after dropping the bike multiple times (yes, i suck these roads would be cake for an experienced rider) the only sign is a few scuffs on the crash bar and bar ends.

riding in jeans I would say you are lucky nothing worse happened, but I guess you already know that :)

Lower legs and feet can easily get hurt in offroad conditions. Invest in a good pair of offroad boots. Worth every cent

How tall are your boots? I think mine would have prevented that injury.

Good for you! As they say, "no falls no balls". When I see a scratch-free off-roader and pristine helmet, something tells me they're not pushing it hard enough....

(of course some people have other reasons for not pushing their limits, which is ok too).

For some reason this reminds me of a potential fall I almost suffered going down a dirt road with very thick but dry marble gravel. Road was flat as a pancake, and I had the stock scorpion tires. Thought I could move fast over the gravel, and at about 60 kms/hr the bike caught into the gravel and almost bucked me off - took quite a bit of body language to keep both of us upright, probably 50 feet or so. Pictured myself with a broken leg or trapped under the bike in the ditch once I got it under control, convinced me to slow down in this deceptively dangerous place.

My boots are Sidi Canyons. More of a touring boot than an off roader. pipes hit just above the boot.
