Also the invaluable battery tender power whip (SAE type connection) - also use to power my volt meter and USB power supply - I like this because I can isolate the volt meter and USB if need be. Thanks for writing this up. I was curious about the SSR from one of your other posts. Have you found any SSRs with >5A DC max current? This one would be good for up to about 60 watts. Have you noticed any reduction in light output from your LEDs due to the 1.5V forward drop of the SSR?
Please explain what's happening in this picture to someone electrically retarded like me I want to be able to leave my USB adapter plugged in all the time! I have a slightly different setup though, SAE pigtail straight to battery with SAE<->USB adapter plugged in at the other end. Would putting one of these gizmos in between the SAE pigtail and the battery help in my situation?
the gizmo is for "Auto-off" for the aux lights (or accessories of you choosing) with the key. In this drawing I have my also have my USB on an SAE direct to the battery (always on).
These lights are 1 amp each (around 12 watts each). Larger relay needed? I would think you could put two parallel to get 10 amp service.
That definitely sounds like it would help with what I want. What is actually routed through it in this picture?
I have my LED light running thru the relay.... That way when I turn off the key my Aux light go off. Keep in mind the aux power socket is delayed off our bikes...so the aux lights stay on 30 seconds after the key is turned off... which I like for camping... I can flip the key on and off and my LED lights will stay on for 30 seconds....
