I really really like the new design. Will wait a few years though before looking at picking one up, hopefully any serious glitches are fixed up by that point.

Apparently, no more aluminum cylinder cover protection guards, and a tag bank is going to be WAY up in the air now...

Same here, really like the looks of the new Adventure.
That thing is so wide, I find it's really noticeable on the pictures showing the accessory LED's.

I've sold my '06 12GS in anticipation of getting a '14 but now I'm wondering if I should get a '14 GSA. The weight is about 50 lbs more. Anybody have a sense of how much this is due to the crash bars or any other farkle that I'd have to add to the normal GS anyway? My last one started out light but definitely headed toward GSA weight after some mods. If the height difference is the only issue, I may just get a GSA. I'm 5' 11" so it is tall but probably not too tall.

Anyone else out there thinking this through enough to figure it out?

Interesting, I like the narrow seat of the new GS but the old GSA ('08) holds more fuel, especially if you drill the filler neck. I'm still undecided about the styling but I am interested in the difference the steeper rake and engine mods will make to the bike. Looks like a cool "Butch" touring bike but I'd trust my old GSA on a real adventure a bit more.

"the fuel tank itself is now made from lightweight aluminium."

That sounds expensive (and a throwback to the 80's...).

Well..all the plastic ones are broke..so...at least all the flanges

I'd much prefer having something that would last..like the Tenere...if you crash..it bends or maybe gets a pin hole..instead of cracking and leaking...easier to fix if it does leak as well..just rub soap on it..this, for some reason doesnt work as well with plastic tanks..I don't know why..

No amount of ethanol will effect it either..

The new GS engine is more economic than the oil cooled. You probably get the same trip length with this tank.

I read in one of those links, I think the one from the actual BMW page, that it is supposed to get the same range as the air cooled GSA.

Am I correct that none of the official pictures show any sort of headlight guard? :huh

Where did you get that figure? According to BMW the difference is just 4 kg or 9 lbs. You might be comparing clean vs. fully farkled weights.

But where is reverse and 2wd? I was expecting more innovatios. :evil

I saw it on the BMW website. Under "Compare Models". 525 vs. 573 lbs wet weight. That's heavier than I remember the air cooled GS wet weight. I thought it was 495 lbs or something. Don't remember the AC GSA. Are you talking AC vs. LC? I was talking LC GS vs LC GSA.
