I don't know which way you guys are headed but I've always wanted to try this road out to Coolidge Dam.

    Looks like fun.

    You guys enjoy the ride.

    Julio,

I was looking at that myself. Do you know if you need any special permits for the reservation and have you any information on how difficult it is?

    Thanks
    Bill

If you stay on marked roads there's no permits needed unless you're camping.

I have no idea how difficult that route is but give it a shot and let us know. :D

if it gets too snotty you could always back track and head towards Globe.

This would make a nice day's loop.

hmm...according to this you do need a permit.

    http://www.sancarlosapache.com/Permits_Information.htm

The closest one to the route would be the Apache Gold Casino.
I've visited the dam (took Coolidge Dam Rd. all the way) and I didn't have a permit. Maybe I just got lucky. :dunno

I road this today and saw the strangest thing. I stopped for a snack right where the dirt meets pavement, on the east end. On the south side of the road, on top of a low saguaro arm, there was a dead coyote pup. I'm guessing a large bird deposited it there maybe. If you guys end up going that way, see if it is still there.

They try and make this harder than it needs to be. Their website is very out of date. Apache Gold does not sell permits anymore. The closest I can find in the Circle K in Globe. $10.00 per person.

It appears a permit is not required on Coolidge Dam Rd though.

We can check things out here since we planned on visiting San Carlos anyway.

Hey fellas, I just joined here (this is my first post) and I'm from Mesa, so I guess I fall into this thread. I'm riding an sv650 right now until I get something more off road friendly, but for the time being I'm planning on romping it as hard as possible.
