Doyle, I would definitely add to the sticky post the TVE hourly Dakar special for the hispanohablantes..

Happy new year all, I will probably rely on the cliff notes this year, no way I can keep up with the F5irehose this year... :clap

That french actor puts a new meaning on the term "moto porn" (I believe it has happened before, or was it not on the Dakar?)... I googled her to be honest, she seems ..."nice"... :evil

The bike graphics that depicted last year's model would be considered NSFW, unless full breast shots are acceptable in your office. At least this year's is a little more tasteful, although even that's relative I guess. One thing's for sure, Hugo Payen has paid alot of dues to the ASO:

    2012 : Bike | 60th
    2011 : Bike | 48th
    2010 : Bike | withdrawal 4
    2009 : Bike | withdrawal 7
    2006 : Bike | withdrawal 9
    2005 : Bike | 92th

Sorry to insist, but first stage is run in reverse order for bikes (first Quads from 250, then bikes from high numbers to 1 Despres) and "normal" (from 300 on)?

I guess they will follow last year ramp scheme, but 2013 there is a stage after the ramp.
    Can someone confirm this?

No issue on insisting, just trying to find out in advance what the process will be; although reverse order would set the slower guys off first and have a worn track for the better riders? - unless the results of this small "prologue" are irrelevant with the first real race stage, i.e. SS2 being back to race order with #1 off first?:clap

With a 13k stage a staggered interval may not matter too much, but again it depends on the stagger, as 30 secs is catchable given a coule of small errors in riding?

Are you talking the actual stage or the podium ceremony?

Think you maybe be right here Doyle, confusion between the Robbie Ramp :lol3 and the 13 km SS1.

I've been trying to consider how the 13km SS 1 will be run and incorporated into the SS2 start - I assume they will keep the Elite top 50 seperate, however with some fast (seriously top 10 fast) Ozzie guys well down on the numbers and them wanting to get good times for a better SS2 start position there could be fireworks? :eek1

I am speaking of actual SS1.

My doubt comes because an Argentinean quad riders, commented that in the opportunity of ASO seminar for first timers in Buenos Aires (with nani oma explaining some important details) they were commented that forst stage would be run in reverse order.

I initially though same as Doyle, that he may be confusing with the ramp.
But then I started wondering if the ASO would want to bradcast Ramp and SS, then bikes in reverse, and cars in normal, would make sense for a 2 hour TV show, were the best ones are shown.

I read the Dakar "Reglement", and it states in "15P Starting Order" that for SS1 the starting order would be defined by rider assigned number.
So it seems already defined, and probably my confusion here.

I'll put some feelers out to verify whether or not this is the case.

We will find out soon, but my original thought was that if they compete SS1 in race order and is only 13km then there will be literally seconds on a big number of starting places for SS2, however I suspect that the quick guys won't be too fussed about being back in the field for SS2 as long as overtaking is easy and the stage is relatively dust free :clap

Anyhow we will find out soon how the SS1 tactics pan out :clap:clap

Do you have a good link for this that I can use? Are you referring to RTVE.es?
