Since this photo was taken I've added a Mac 2 into 1 header, S fairing and ditched the clipons for a set of RS bars:
O M G, I finally got time to finish my seat bracket mod... Not happy with the BMW hinged seat brackets that were cracking my seat pan, I removed the OEM hings and replaced them with a set of "L" brackets in the rear (using existing sub-frame bolt holes). TINK
I converted the seat mounts to a "fixed" configuration using the "L" bracket mod to assure the seat would stay in place. I have no plans to "tour" on the R100S and therefore have no need to access the under seat storage. This will be a pampered "ride to the Rock Store and show her off" bike. I'm considering mounting my Stebel air horn under the seat where the tool tray was. TINK
Can't tell you the manufacturer, but I bought it off eBay from a guy in Taiwan. It uses the stock RT/RS front fairing bracket with some modifications. Here it is now, Progress!
You will find similar support at some Porsche, Mercedes and BMW auto dealers. It's a German Tech School tradition to make machines so good they will have a following forever.
I keep wanting to get back to PROJECT-S but for all the wrong reasons I seem to not find the time to get going again. I want to pull the swing arm next so I can pop the trans back and lub the clutch shaft. I also need to lub the swing arm bearings which I'm sure still has the factory grease. Then there's the battery acid damage to the frame, sub-frame and swing arm that I need to rattle can some paint on. All sounds simple on paper but I just don't seem to find the time to get 'er done. TINK
Got off my bee hind and pulled the swing arm today, YA! SURPRISE! Found this in the bottom of the drive shaft boot. Some "wizard" dropped it in the boot and just went ahead and left it there instead of fishing it out. Drive shaft had four bolts, so this was a "spare"! Oh for goodness sakes TINK
That's a Shade Tree technique to keep bolts from being vibrated loose. Deform the threads and they will grip like glue.
Just thought I'd pop in and say hi. I first spotted your thread about a year ago as I was heading down a similar path. So here's a little motivational nudge for you. My "RT" turned "S"... I didn't go to the lengths that you are but just wanted to possibly provide a little more inspiration for you.
Beautiful job pitorz. Now some nice peanut valve covers and some beautiful stainless steel headers and you'll be done.
