Does anybody know if BMW still sells the kit to modify the front forks so they don't clunk and bang around ?

I did this to my 82 last year, all the parts needed were in the system except one, which had been waiting for me at my local dealer since 1993. That part could be fabricated by someone with more skills and equipment than I have. If you pm me I can send you description of work needed if it would help.

    This was worthwhile to do.

I have done every trick in the book, complied with all service bulletins and replace many parts including a "TT" triple clamp. Still have the clunk after all these years.

There have been 3 revisions to these forks, the third one fitted from sometime in 1983, does seem to work on my bike.
The part that is NLA is 31.42.2.301.885 the valve body.

I have never seen a fix either. I think the fix is taking the springs out of the forks since I think the noise is the springs hitting the inside of the tubes? That OR the brake pads hitting the calipers.

Some of the parts are NLA for that update.
