Congrats for the app! Great stuff! I was trying to find someone to develop a similar app but it would cost much more than 20 bucks To prevent the odo counting when stopped can't you simply didn't count any move below 2 mph? 95% of the false moves are below this speed even with very low signal. And... I think no one will run below 2 mph at more than 10 meter each rally stage. Cap is displaying accurate values when stopped? I would prefer to disconect Iphone compass output and have only gps heading values, again not displaying any value given by a movement lets say below 3 or 4 mph. This way rider knows that the value displayed is the last heading he did moving. Again, congrats, very good job!
I think the App as we have it now works pretty well for managing the distance when the phone is not moving. After initial zeroing I've not seen distance being added during stops, but let us know if anyone else is seeing things. We could make it an option to not enable CAP when stopped. Personally I like to be able to turn the bars when stopped and confirm a direction, but we'll take a look at making this an option. Thanks for the feedback.
Case for the iPhone4, bottom is HDPE for the antenna, I'm running it instead of my Vapor to test using a speedo app, along with maps and other apps.
As always, very nice Paul !!! Love the HDPE use. I see the rubber on the inside, from my understanding to protect the phone form water etc. What about the hole for the button? Do you have a membrane or sth similar there? Another thing that I cannot see is how, and if , the charger could be connected to the phone. I see that the right side extends longer than the left side. (the phone is eccentric inside the case). Next thing you know you are building wireless thumb switches for them This is going to be really really good !!! D.
Right now the case is sitting in a bucket of water, here is the aluminum proto, this is close to what it'll look like for the cable, Will need to be siliconed plate and screws, and will live there. Strangely enough it was the bottom that interfered with the signal. BTM Dimitri, that schematic for the buttons using the relays came in handy, the way I wired up the switches I couldn't use them in parallel, with relays all is good and they live in the roadbook holder.
I like this testing... it is just weird if water goes in.... With the roadbooks we had the air pressure kit stand by to clean the roadbooks if water entered the unit.... May be a rubber cable gland will help there. There are some which are tiny and look awesome. This is awesome. Next thing you know I will be in the market for a used iphone Always glad to be of service . Just shout ! I have some good wiring suggestions for the two led lights as well. Keep up the good work man, the community is watching
Here it is in the bucket, can't get the screen to work under water, but the compass still moves. We're trying to muster the courage to flush it in the toilet, we'll make a video if we do.
Try this, <IFRAME height=315 src="//www.youtube.com/embed/Evp_ssEM9zI" frameBorder=0 width=560 allowfullscreen></IFRAME>
OK, it's official, the next test for the Mk1's is in the toilet, shower, somewhere in bathroom anyway
