Lorenzo highsides out from the lead! Was just trying to go outside of backmarker, and maybe went to the wetter part of the track. Pedrosa now the leader, he sacrificed pole position to change bike, but it seems it paid off. Crustchlow also crashes out. Spies replacement Nakasuga is now running in 2nd position with 5 laps to go
A very odd crash from Crutchlow... Stoner grabbed the podium, in pitlane his crew wrote on his board "GOING FISHING"
great race, shame lorenzo biffed, but congrats to pedrosa, not an easy win for sure. and congrats to Nakasugo, 2nd on spies bike!! doubt spies would have done as good.
Spies almost won last year @ Valencia, was only beaten by Stoner on the run to the flag. But with Spies´ luck this year, not a chance in hell, that same bike would have found some way to just disintegrate...!! One Japanese member of the Yamaha factory team was fully in tears, as Nakasuga came into parc ferme..
What a fucked up race.. :huh Good on Nakasuga, that's surely more than he expected. Maybe he can teach J-Lo somehting about keeping your head cool in conditions like these Espargaro not only led in the beginning, didn't he also re-take the lead shortly after Dovizioso had overtaken him? Pretty good effort. I wonder what happened to the ducs, especially Rossi's. He never had any pace the whole weekend, the tests are going to be interesting.
Well, long time since a Japanese rider on a Japanese bike got to the podium... (Aoyama?) Also it shows that no one expected this from him! Congrats to Nakasuga!
Interestingly, about 1 hour before the start, Unibet did have him as the 4th most probable winner after Pedro, Lorenzo & Stoner, although Rossi´s odds were naturally much worse than the front row guys.
Interesting. How do they set those odds - are they changing by people betting on him to win? If so, sounds a bit like wishful thinking by the fans.. I hope he will feel confident on the Yamaha, because by the looks of it now I'm starting to wonder if he has any wins in him still..
He is still working on race set up. Just as certainly, Marquez still hasn't proven himself, jury is still out.
They were supposed to fix that Italian turd in the dry, but it seems what they've actually managed to do, is get rid of its relative speed in the wet or mixed track condition
If if if if, Pedrosa off the chamionship by 18 points. If he'd taken 2nd at PI he'd be champion now. Kind of a wacky final race.
I was gutted, too, that the real showdown at Valencia never came. But Jorge and Pedro both had 2 DNF's this year, and of these both made one mistake on their own, while the other was out of their hands (taken out by another rider). Lorenzo had one hell of a crash today, I'm glad he was okay.
I doubt that if Lorenzo had to only finish 5th to win the championship that he would have taken any risks. There was no such pressure, and we was just going for the win. Bring on 2013.
What ifs are totally pointless.......what if Spies could ride, what if Stoner didn't bust his bones, what if Ducati could build a decent bike..........
Mega. He was only 1 lap down. Celebration time. Oops. Karel Abraham comprehensively smoked VR46. and 3 CRT bikes/riders did too. 1 25 26 Dani PEDROSA SPA Repsol Honda Team Honda 149.0 48'23.819 2 20 21 Katsuyuki NAKASUGA JPN Yamaha Factory Racing Yamaha 147.0 +37.661 3 16 1 Casey STONER AUS Repsol Honda Team Honda 145.9 +1'00.633 4 13 19 Alvaro BAUTISTA SPA San Carlo Honda Gresini Honda 145.8 +1'02.811 5 11 51 Michele PIRRO ITA San Carlo Honda Gresini FTR 144.6 +1'26.608 6 10 4 Andrea DOVIZIOSO ITA Monster Yamaha Tech 3 Yamaha 144.5 +1'30.423 7 9 17 Karel ABRAHAM CZE Cardion AB Motoracing Ducati 144.4 +1'31.789 8 8 9 Danilo PETRUCCI ITA Came IodaRacing Project Ioda-Suter 143.5 1 Lap 9 7 77 James ELLISON GBR Paul Bird Motorsport ART 143.1 1 Lap 10 6 46 Valentino ROSSI ITA Ducati Team Ducati 142.9 1 Lap 11 5 41 Aleix ESPARGARO SPA Power Electronics Aspar ART 141.1 1 Lap 12 4 14 Randy DE PUNIET FRA Power Electronics Aspar ART 138.3 2 Laps 13 3 73 Hiroshi AOYAMA JPN Avintia Blusens BQR 136.7 2 Laps 14 2 5 Colin EDWARDS USA NGM Mobile Forward Racing Suter 132.6 3 Laps
