Late answer but YES... although the hubs have different axle sizes the spoke pattern and number are the same. Both the DID Dirt Star or the Excel rims are used too.
I just picked up my new to me, motarded 625 SXC. It's a hoot and has way lower vibes than any of my LC4 Adventures did. Has an FCR41 installed too. It came with an 18L tank/comfort seat combo as well. I will be in the market for a set of 18/21 wheels with a cush hub too, if you have any leads.
Just got myself an SXC and what a hoot it is. Took that and the 690 out at the weekend on some muddy plains and I have to say the sxc gave me more fun than the 690!!!!! Just ordered a 17L tank for it so it`s time to bling it up. Pictures to follow! PS. I am 5`10 so I`m hovering even on flat ground
G'day all, I just bought my first 625SXC, '05 model with 7,000kms on it. It came with a spare 18lt tank & comfort seat. I'll probably need to ask some new owner questions in the coming weeks/months. A great thread, I'm bound to pick up the info I might need. Thanks.
Me too! Except mine's an '04. Has two wheels sets (no cush hub though ) three tanks and three(?) seats. Picking it up Saturday morning!
Interested in getting rid of one of those non comfort seats? I have the big tank and comfort seat but have no stock seat to go along with my standard tank for the tight trails.
What size front and rear sprocket are you running there? What's the performance difference? Running close to stock on mine still.
Hey just seen this thread. I got myself a 625 for $3500 with bugger all k's, 18lt safari tank, exhaust, bash plate, and heaps of spares Took it out on the tracks and rock climbs I used to pump my little Suzuki over but the ktm is a bit to heavy for it as a result, the bike decided to have a sleep and broke the clutch lever. Fitted rental high rise fat bars with 1 inch risers to improve my position as I'm 6'4, and twin radiator fans to switch with a blue led that I control on the dash. Also all my warning lights were crapped out so I rejigged the the dash and added 2 amber for left and right indicators with high beam in centre. Neutral light is playing up a little so I'll be tracing that wire to find the fault Here's a few fots Day I got it [/IMG] Trail tech speedo and new retard lights. Right side fan fitted. They had little lugs that required me to mash a couple if rad fins to fit them through for mounting Lugs through the rad The connection in the centre ontop of the frame had power with the ignition that wasn't being used to I used it for the fans
mendydrz; I would keep an eye on the fan install. There is very little meat on those aluminum tubes where the fan is mounted. With all the vibes the LC4 motor has I don't think it will be too long before those bolts wear a hole in the rad tubes. You would be much better off if you mounted the fan off of the sides of the rad. Sure would hate to see you having to stop every few miles to piss in the rad to keep the bike cool! Cheers
Hey Mendy, Not sure if you're aware of the LC4 thread index, there's a wealth of information and helps on just about everything LC4. This is probably the thread you would want to refer to when doing the fan installation If in doubt, ask and someone will chime in with an answer or a link
I did see the lc4 ref thread and have been slowly trawling through it. Honestly I don't find and issue with vibrations on the bike at all other than the dunlop 606 rear. Runs really smooth. Smother than my Suzuki. I took it out on some tight single track riding with steep rock climbs and descents. The bike had a couple of sleeps and I broke a clutch lever but every thing else is sound.
I'm 5' 7" and have been riding a stock SXC, I can't touch in off camber situations but at 6 foot I'd not worry. I did put on a big tank and the KTM comfort seat. That seat increased my inability to touch but I can touch in town, just hang off a little on one side. Heck this bike will drag you through more stuff with it's low end grunt. Go on, for a pig this bike is great. I think it's a great dual sport and it will get through some pretty tight stuff for a pig, just keep moving.
I need a heavier spring for my 625's rear shock. (I'm not fat, Yeti's are just big dudes. ) I've gone on a few websites and no one seems to list the 625. I've heard 625's are rare beasties, but no springs?? :huh Has anyone had any luck getting a heavier weight spring for the 625? (Fwiw, I'm 225# without gear.) Thanks! Edit: Did some more research. The stock spring is a 63-260. For someone my weight (225#) the recommended spring is 70-260 which is the stock spring for the 2005 640 Adventure. The Adventure also had 66-260 and 75-260 springs available for it. Given that I run my bike with the big ol' tank on it and am planning on Adventurizing it, I think I'm going to go with the 75-260. Especially since I plan to carry soft luggage. (Yes, I have a beefed up rear subframe.)
Hey guys, me again. You were so helpful before I figured I'd give you a shout and see if you can point me in the right direction. Just bought a Vapor and didn't really take into account that the SXC uses the current instrument panel to hold the ignition switch. Have any of you installed a Vapor on your SXC? Any advice? Did you relocate the ignition switch? The rest of the installation seems pretty straightforward Excited to have a tach and know my temps
I weigh in over 350#, so got my bike set up for me when I bought it (back in '03). The dealer found a spring strong enough for me (but I was told it was hard to get installed on the shock. I am running an Elbach 0900.225.0450 (I think this is a product link) Here is the spring.
I bought a 625 SXC from a bike mechanic. Right after I bought it, it wouldn't start anymore. So, I sent it to a different mechanic. That mechanic gave up, and so did the 2nd mechanic. 6 months later, she comes out of the coma. After swapping out almost everything immaginable. Still... if I have to hold in the decomp lever to start her, does that mean my auto. decomp. is broke? Anyway, someone please do me a favor, and watch the video below (me riding her after fiddling with the RPMs & Fuel Ratio) and let me know if it sounds like anything is still wrong. Mucho thanks-oh. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-t39tIisV_M&feature=youtu.be
About a month ago I came off my bike, broke the clutch line, so I've now fixed that, bled the clutch system with new oil and added a 17 Litre tank.. test ride around the block, started first time after sitting for a month, woohoo!!
