    Terrific!

I'm bummed I wasn't able to join you guys, but now I get to enjoy the ride Report! :clap

Kelly. You do realize that your Ride Reports are so good that nobody wants to do one of their own because they can't compete...

But anyway, let the mayhem begin!

    Hi guys!

    Thanks for the love! :raabia

This was a good ride - I'm glad you're excited to read about it. :D

So, I'm trying something a little different this time.
Matt was looking for some Colorado stuff in the Summer of Stupid and he said it was hard to find.
It can be confusing when you have to wade through comments (and my stupid videos) to figure out what day was posted.

This time, I'll try and keep all the waving :wave
and commenting in a separate post, and keep the body of the report nice and clean.

    Maybe it will help?
    :dunno

I still like to say hi to everyone...

    Hi AustinJake!
    thank you :D

How do you pronounce that one? :scratch um...Hi Tex!
hey Hobbes, glad you found us early!

Hi RRR - hey, I didn't remember that you were from St. George. We're going to be in your backyard on Day 2.

    Oooh. Can't have that! :rofl
You got it, Bob. Hey, I have some fire trucks for you later on. :deal

    Thank you!
Oh, your comment got this song stuck in my head again.

Haha - I double dog DARE you NOT to watch...:evil

also - "ugly KTMs??" Them's fightin' words! :mrskbasa

    :lol3
Yay, Redog! Glad to have you :)
Thanks, Jordan! Matt really enjoyed your RR videos today :D

    bigdon!! :beer
Pop the top, lift it up, drink it up!

That's WANderful! :D so glad you could join us again, NoVa Rider!

    Oh, Gale! :cry
We thought of you and Sandy when we went Colorado, we really did.
But the closest we got to Pagosa Springs was Lake City (isn't that 2.5 hrs away)?
We didn't think you'd want 7 dirtbags crashing on your floor anyway. :lol3
You'll see after reading the RR!
    kelly

I knew that name looked familiar!
hey john, thanks for signing in - 2 posts in 6 yrs! :lol3

    Welcome, ADVwnbe!

Thanks, Dickie! I'm glad you liked it. It was the bear roar that got you, huh?
    http://cdn.hark.com/swfs/player_fb.swf?pid=djlkjjxxsr
It almost sounds like a dinosaur. :D
    Cool!
    Hola! Welcome :D
    hey Sourjon,
Now you can see all the places we should have crossed paths!
I'll bet you guys walked by our motel a bunch of times, too. :rofl

    Wooo! Questor! :wave
Don't worry, you'll be glad you missed a LOT of the ride :evil

Aw, thanks. :shog. Don't give me a big head! :kboom
I'm glad you enjoy the reports, but I know they aren't for everyone. :lol3

    hiya scottmac! :queenie
    Great to see you again!

    Hope I didn't miss anyone!

    OK, real post, coming up...

    Pre-launch:

The days leading up to the kickoff date were busy ones.
Our inbox was aflutter with ride-prep pics...

Bartek was new at training, but he took to it like an old pro...

    10 points for style! :lol3

Meanwhile, his forks were out being serviced.

Osito was replacing his water pump.

Lica started building his new wheels a day or 2 before he had to leave!
They were pretty cool - anodized orange Excels. Sweeeet. :thumb

Radek was pretty much ready to go...

Until he realized his passport had expired!
Luckily, he was able to get it expedited -
and those efficient Canadians got it done in time. yay!

Matt and I knew it was going to be hot riding in Nevada and Utah, so we did a little heat acclimation training.
Over 560 miles in the Sierras with Capt. Saveaho, riding Day 5 of the Pacific Crest Quest.

It was at least 100°F, but we had a great time. Well, Matt and I did.
Capt. Saveaho lost his $300 tent and sleeping pad and broke a mirror. :cry

Oh, wait - he looks happy here!

Hope he thought it was worth it. Nice seeing you again, Erik!

One of the main reasons for our PCQ ride was to try out our new luggage.
We got the new (larger) Wolfman Rocky Mountain sidebags.
They hold twice as much (by volume) as the smaller Expedition sidebags.
The Expedition bags were perfect in Baja, but this time we were going to have camping gear.
Matt wanted to see if larger side bags (but a smaller duffle in back) would make the weight more manageable.

Here we are in full on Beverly Hillbillies mode, riding up to Scott’s place with new tires.

    Oso Overloaded :eek1

The night before we left, we got some bad (BAD) news...
Bartek called and said he couldn'’t go!

    NOOOOOO!!!

He said work was just too much. He was drowning and couldn'’t take time off.
Oh man. That was not what we wanted to hear.
It was such a bummer. I understood, but still.
This ride was supposed to be for him!

I was so upset, it was a long night. :cry

Then, the next morning, just as we were getting ready to leave...
Bartek called back and said that he was going after all! :clap

    OMG!
Way to add some drama to the ride, Bartek. :eekers

He said he would meet us at Scott’'s house, probably pretty late.
I didn'’t care what time he got there, as long as he showed up!

So, after a few hours on the slab,
Matt and I were the first ones to arrive at Scott’'s place.

Hey, someone has a new toy!

Only Walter was home to greet us.
    He’'s a great host, though. :D

I called Scott to let him know what was up.

He was stuck at work for a little bit but would be home in the evening.
Matt started in on the tires, while Walter supervised.

Man, our rim is looking pretty worked.

Hey, someone knew that Bartek was coming...:lol3

Next to arrive were Radek and Lica, all the way from BC...

Matt helped them unload the bikes.

    Radek and the beast. :super

Lica picked up some cool stickers in Central and South America, didn'’t he?

I’'m just impressed that he got the wheels finished in time - aren'’t they flash?

    Nice new D908

    Radek, too.

Matt put Scott'’s new tire on - another D908. :thumb

We went with a Scorpion Rally rear.
Not as pricey as a 908, but still a good tire.

Scott came home next and did a little fiberglass work on Lica’'s windscreen.

Ceasar rolled up just in time for dinner - Hola Osito! :wave

Osito came bearing (get it?) gifts - Oso Loco tee shirts!! :clap
How frickin'’ awesome is that?? :rayof

    Thank you, Osito!! :nomystery
    They're so great.

Radek took some pics of everyone hanging out.

I really wanted to give photo credit for each pic, but it’'s just too confusing.
With all our photos combined, there are over 4700. Not counting screen captures!

Radek, Lica, Bartek and Osito all had some great shots - thanks, you guys! :bow

So, for some strange reason, these dudes seemed to think we were going to be riding at night...:scratch
Hmmm. I wonder what gave them that idea? :hmmmmm
Anyway, everyone had super awesome lights (except for us).

    Radek

    Lica

    Scott

    and, here'’s Osito installing his...

    Finished product.

Of course, after that, there had to be a competition.
“Oh my god, y’all - they’'re gonna have a dance off light off!” :rofl

(crap, that SNL justin timberlake/britney spears video is gone :(
    here's a stupid gif instead.

    I think Radek won?
(Matt says Scott's truck won. :lol3)

Scott and Jo went all out for dinner - thick, juicy steaks and an assortment of salads. :dukegirl
    It was incredible!! :yum

    So delicious! Blurry but HAPPY.

The bike work went on well into the night.
With 6 KTMs, everyone wanted to make sure they were prepared for the ride...

Bartek finally rolled up around midnight. You can see he had awesome lights, too.

He had had a long day of work, but the important thing was that he was here! :clap

Now our little group was complete.
    Whew. :knary

The next hurdle was going to be getting everyone up and ready to go at 6 in the morning.
It was going to be a 400+ mile day of Nevada desert.
You know the drill - we had a long way to go and a short time to get there...

Radek had provided some inspiration -
    Smokey and the Oso

    :lol3

    Oso Queso-y!

The great thing about the RR is that it's like being on the trip twice. But this time I don't feel bad about having a whiskey in one hand while I enjoy the ride.

Thanks guys for organizing the trip. It was a great experience and I'm so glad I was able to take part in it.
