No worries, post away! Like you noted, this site teaches you a lot about the things you'd normally ride right by. I wasn't using the map, unfortunately - seems like I'll need to grab one for the next trip. I typically plan routes in google maps and then move it to my Garmin Zumo.

    Nice trip!

    I miss the SW! :cry

Have you got any more pics of that truck and semi off of the Moki Dugway?

It is amazing that you went all the way around Lake Powell without even one picture.

I guess I'm just not much of a lake guy.:hide

As you asked, here's a few more of the truck and semi:

Have to look closely for the truck in this one:

txplants - Hotel the entire way. It approached 30 degrees at night when I was in Utah, and I don't enjoy camping unless it's quite warm outside. Why do you ask?

No worries - I'd love to see more! You've got a great looking Forester. Is it the XT model?

I’m planning a similar trip for late May-early June. I will most likely do a little of both and was interested in your recommendations for hotels/camping sites.

Ah. Well, I typically go for the cheapest place I can find that has wifi. I don't care much for any other amenities because I usually get in late and leave early. But here's where I stayed, if it helps:

near Zion - Zion Park Motel. Pleasant enough, it was recommended to me as a decent cheap option close to the park by another hotel owner.

near Page, AZ - Motel 6 (there's a lot of options in Page)

near Mexican Hat - Hat Rock Inn (I was REALLY impressed with this place for the dough)

    - if you stay here, go to Swinging Steaks for dinner.

Don't even remember where I stayed in Cedar City, but there's a ton of options there.

Thanks! I wish I had stayed, but I only packed what I needed for hotels. Didn't think my bike with Tourances would keep up with what you guys were planning on doing. :eek1

I guess there's always next year...

Great trip report. You took the route I tell all my LA friends to take if they have a week off. So much to see in utah.

Nice to see you visited and enjoys my park :) I guess I should get on here more and offer my fellow inmates a room and shower when they visit the park. Cheers

bikerman - all said and done, I was away from home for 6 days. But as you can probably guess, there were some days where I covered 500 miles and a few days where I only covered 200 or so. Hope you'll be able to enjoy with the XR.

I couldn't not believe how much there is to see in Southern Utah. Got any other recommendations of your area for a LA guy who'd be glad to come back the next time I've got a break from classes?
