Nov 2009 - Peru Trip

Howdy,

I just wanted to post some of my pics from a trip I did in Peru. Just now getting around to putting them up, but it was a great trip.

I spent three days with my guide Jose from Cusco, Peru. We started there, crossed the Andes Mountain Range and then descended into the Cloud Forest in the Manu Biopreserve.

Took a full day to get to the lodge. I spent two nights there and rode back on the third day.

I was on a Honda 450 Falcon! They don't make those in the US, but it was a good little bike. My guide was on a Honda 650, XR?

It was easy going, early on, only a few llamas, chickens, and people to dodge on the roads

Then we entered the mists of the Manu cloudforest

There was a turn in the middle of this tunnel and about a foot of mud/water to navigate in complete darkness, so don't let this nice bridge fool you

we also happened to be going to opposite direction of heavy truck traffic on this one lane mud road

this is a picture from the top of a ridge in the middle of the Andes, what a great ride

our route was cut off by construction and dynamite crews, so we had to take this detour and got lost for a couple hours. Those logs were not always tied together, but we didn't loose a bike in the cracks, so i guess we were lucky

Great photos. I'm thinking about doing something similar - 3 to 5 days in and around Cusco. Can you share any details about the operator you used and prices? Did you ride in any other areas of Peru. Thanks.
