On a side note: my father-in-law is good friends with the owner of a campground over in Nolichuckey Gorge in Erwin. Said we're more than welcome to come look at it for next year if we want and he'll have some rafts there if any one feels like whitewater rafting this year.

I know the spot - it's really beautiful - but the problem is the lack of indoor space in case of rain (and even less cabin space as Black Bear)

Edit: May need to scrap that idea...thats a very technical road, what about Shady Vally and down thru Damascus etc.
Say 150 mile round trip with 200 yrd's of straight bits, or 250 miles with 214 yrds of straight bits.
