It kinda looks like our eagle is jealous that the Mexican eagle has a snake. :lol3

I've been told in the past that the boarder patrol doesn't like people to be snapping photos of the crossings. Anyone give you grief about it?

They have wifi in this cell...so I don't they are THAT mad. :lol3

I was pretty discreet with my iPhone.

Very nice guys at the border...could tell I was just a kid having some fun. :D

Interesting to see the checkpoints on 90W and 277N...got stopped going north on the way home. Again very nice guys that liked my bike a lot. :clap

Sorry you had tire problems Sunday , Rod. Looked like a great day to ride. If I can't get on the bike pretty soon, I won't be riding a loop at the Rally. I'm gonna need some seat time.

Schick , I enjoy those lonely roads. There are some gravel roads ending near Comstock that will really get you "out there".

I got stopped last year in NM at a check point. They asked a few questions and sent me on my way. Guess they kind of figured out I didn't have any illegals in my panniers and any good drug smuggler would use a vehicle that you could actually carry lots of drugs in. :lol3

Sunday....Tire problems?....not necessarily.....More of a..I CAN"T STOP RIDING problem. Just that the rear tire only goes for about 5K on this "smooth" Texas pavement. I think I remember putting the BT023 on just before our July Hill Country ride..& that was the week after the 4TH,wasn't it.

Let's see ....do the math..3mos per tire @ 5K & allowing for bad weather....say 4mos generously. $400 per year in rear tires + another $100 for the 1 front tire = $500 for $15K miles.
    STILL....FUN FER THE MONEY

So was this with or without a passport? I'm assuming with.

They gave me some grief back in '08 for not having one but nothing serious. I'm pretty sure it's different these days.

Not sure they would now. I had trouble getting back in to Texas from Mexico in 08. Those Border Patrol guys just don't have much of a since of humor:lol3

    Let me guess.....91 octane....

It's cause San Angelo is appx 1850 ft above sea level....while Waco is 427....Dallas & Austin are similar.

    Dam !! you're in the mountains!...?huh

i've seen 92 in places...but still...if the REAL reason is the elevation that is so far beyond retarded i don't even know where to begin

Nope...just a drivers license. I walked across the dam after parking my bike at the border station. Guys were very nice...could tell I was just a kid looking to see the border. He didn't even check my license when I came back. Never showed it to him to begin with.

Go to CO up in the big mountains...it's even lower. Has to do with thinner oxygen content in the air. Similar to the principal of why water boils at a lower temp up there.
You should have seen the same thing out in Ruidoso NM...

    I understand the principle of it...but 1800 feet don't mean $hit.
