You know, it's just not fun anymore..... the restrooms are as you would expect......toilet seats, toilet paper, no hanging wires, every thing is to code..... too boring to snap a photo of such places!:lol3

    And a 'hi mo', huh?:evil

You'll need to ask her for any more on that one via PM.:deal

Just doing some mental arithmetic, the way we are coming home is only 35 times faster than the ride down

If you are reading this thread and want a taste of this type of adventure but don.t have the time or money you could easily do something I have been thinking about for a while now.....

Fly to Quito, get a bus north to Ibarra...ask around on main street for the moto selling area...there was a huge line of used bikes one street back from the PanAm

Buy yourself a used. 125cc, for about five hundred bucks strap on your mini Giant Loop.......head out for as long as you have..........
When you are done come back and sell the bike in the same area.........it.s a big area of just bike sellers and buyers.

Or.......you could go to Freedom Rentals in Quito and they will fix you right up.

    Tell .em I sent ya

It has been my daily treat to follow your blog. I really like how you both make it seem so accessible and ordinary riding to the other side of the planet. I'm sure you have shown others a path they did not believe was there. Be Well.

I'm one of those people who won't leave the USA 'cept maybe Canada.

I just don't like the idea of not having "The Constitution" sticking up for me.

I'm glad that others who decide to do so, give reports with pictures.

It was fun looking in & tagging along.

I'm having trouble finding another Quito, so I think it's not necessary.

Thanks for the compliment and for staying with us.

We have an attitude about it that goes like this:

If you could, when you are at home, wouldn't you go for a motorcycle ride every day?

Soooo.....we go for a motorcycle ride every day, but we just keep going in one direction!

We'll get up in the morning and one of us may say....."do you want to go for a motorcycle ride today?"

It is pretty easy, once you make the time and money.................

When something goes wrong or we do something wrong......I'll say to Colleen...."what are they going to do, shoot us for turning right on a red?"

It's not against the law to argue and protest, even in countries down here, you can't let it get out of hand......but they did call the cops on me at the Argentine border.......I told them I wasn't impressed or scared.....I think it unhinged them a tad. There're not going to shoot you..................they might...........no they are not going to shoot you :eek1

I'd say PERU is the best country regarding RIGHTS, there are posters here and there advocating citizens rights and freedom and none discrimination.....we feel our favorite country was Peru. There seems to be a lot of freedom for self expression and personal space.....it's really quite groovy.

Funnily enough, apart from the Canadian Rockies and the fact I have family in Alberta.....I thought Canada sucked. Parts of it reminded me too much of depressed England.......and I'd have to say the one surly Canadian border guard I encountered soured me too. Coupled with the cost of things I am not a great lover of crossing the northern border.......we go to Mexico and specifically Baja many times a year...........happily
You are correct though, it's not for everyone..........we don't like to talk anyone in to coming on ANY of our rides....................
