Excellent pic of a KTM in real mode! Getting welded adds another dimension to the world of real KTMs. Cheers

Lots of cases of LC4 subframes breaking, do a search. Might not be a bad idea to reinforce yours before you go on a long trip with lots of luggage.

I had a small strut welded to replace where the cannister exited the sidepanel in Labrador before the girl and I rode it to Moncton for AC/DC:lol3

Brian doesn't keep a damn thing hanging off the rear of that 640, 'cept maybe a small box with a camera in it. He sent me a bunch of photos with that teaser in it but didn't say what happened.
Come on B-rod, out with it!

Mine has it's second crack in the subframe within 2 years. I will weld it. Of course I ride it like it is a 250 lb dirt bike ( i.e. not gently...):lol3. 10-15 pounds of tools on the rack.

    Awsome bike though...

    Hey Chad

Just about to pull out of Moab in a few minutes and am heading for Capitol Reef. I noticed one of the rack bolts was loose, so I snugged it up, and when I did, the whole back end lifted. He cut a couple of slugs and slipped them in, welded them up, and added a reinforcement where the cannistor loop was (lost that here too :D). I can't believe that wimpy subframe can support a pair of boxes. I'll never do it.

havent you seen "Long way round" ?? Good way to fry your electronics .. you should always remove parts before welding unless you are in the baja or somethin..

I think everyones sub has broken .. just waitin on mine..

Whatever. There wouldn't be a muffler shop in business if this were true. There is a hell of a lot more electronics in a modern car than a motorbike.

I'm not that stupid. Battery was disconnected, and all fuses I could find were pulled. The very first thing I did after the welding was done was fire it up. All good. I've read too many threads about fried electronics to have the same thing happen to me. Thanks for the credit though

There is a lot of room to add reinforcing to the frame back there. I didn't at the time, but if I ever intend on carrying big bags, I would do a little bit off welding to beef it up.
