I'm available any weekend in October in case it gets changed. Also, my son will be there too. He's 18 and has his motorcycle license.

That's better than Idaho... I was interested this year, until I heard it was in BFE Idaho. Johnson City is much more do-able... I may be in for that.

Good Morning Everyone,

Just for everyones situational awareness the trails that are behind the martins in Richmond (forest hill ave) are off limits. I went there this past thursday looking to explore a little bit and I was greeted by a bunch of "no trespassing" and a police cruiser. Obviously we did not approach the trailhead after seeing this from a far. Just trying to get the word out.

Just replaced the chain and sprockets on my f800gs and feel I should comment on the tool I used. It's the Motion Pro PBR chain tool. The PBR stands for Press Break Rivet as it does all three. It's easy enough to look up on Amazon so I'll not post a link but I'll sum-up by saying it's worth every penny.
It is well built and comes in a nice carrying case. It's a tad bulky and heavy so I don't think I'll be carrying it in my on-board tool kit, but if I lose a chain on the road, I'll probably need more than a PBR tool anyway. The instructions make it easy to use as long as you have a little mechanical know how. As usual, I read through the instructions a couple of times when I received the tool and had a good idea of what to do before starting the job. It worked as promised and I actually look forward to using it again. The RK chain I used it on had a hollow nose rivet instead of a quad stake so that's the anvil I used but I imagine the stake anvil works just as well if not better. I'd used to fear the "no master-link chain replacement", but this made it too easy.
If anyone needs to replace a chain, just lemme know and I can put this thing to good use once again.

Eddy: I dropped the front sprocket down a tooth to 15. No difference in chain length, freeway performance is just peachy and low speed maneuvering is like butta'!!! I was planning on going back to 16 after the GS Trophy, but doubt I will.

I bought my chain tool back when I purchased my 2005 SV-650S, and it was one of the best investments I ever made. $100 well spent. I can't even remember how many chains I've installed. At least 4 on the SV. 2 on the Duc. BMW is going to need one shortly. Plus all the friends that I've helped or have borrowed it.

Roger, keep on these blokes down I Va, this kz gonna be a landmark rally.... I'm gonna spend the better part kf this comkng year trying to find my old 86, just so I can take it down there.... if I can't find it, my silverdammit C14 will just have to do.....

Anybody in the RVA area have a rivet type master link for a KLR? 520 o-ring type chain, probably RK brand...It's OEM type replacement.

If the next weekend, the 26th-27th, works for everyone, I'll see if I can be free. Got to warn you though, WV gets pretty chilly at night in late October. I'm talking in the high teens to low 20's at night. But if you remember, we did the Black Ice Ride last year, so I'm pretty sure I'm game.

So once again, everyone chime in for which is better, the 19th or the 26th? Guess we'd need someone who has the roll charts or tracks for the S500 too. I don't have those.
