No, there is a big inprovement with the offroad handeling.
I meant that the gearing feels the same as before.
I don't know the exact travel it has now.
It's the max we could get out of it with out running in to problems with the chain.

To those that are interested in more travel on their Scrambler.

I sent all of the dimensions for the swing arm and shock mounting locations to the engineer at Works Performance Suspension.
In his opinion,the maximum wheel travel on a stock swing arm is 7.5 inches.
This is based on suspension action,anti squat and chain considerations.
This is using shocks (custom made) with an extended length of 16.25 and a compressed length of 10.5.Shock travel 5.75
With triple rate springs he quoted me a price of $600 for the pair.
This much travel will require a chain tensioner to control the chain as it gets very loose at full droop.

I have a pair of Works Performance shocks that are 16.25 long but only 4.5 shock travel. This will give me about 6 inches of wheel travel. I am going to try these before having a custom set built and see how it rides.

I am going to finish the installation of the DR650 front forks and try these shocks.
Should make a big difference.

Real world seat height for a Scrambler?

I have a 30" inseam and my heels are maybe 1/2" off the ground when sitting upright. One of the reasons I bought the bike is it felt more comfortable than a GS650.

Hi guys, low sided on my Scrambler '12.

I smashed speedo/tach gauge, my headlight, bent my mounts too.

I remember reading guys here did a 7" headlight swap for their Scramblers.
Can anybody share as to where to source a good economical headlight?

Anybody know of any good alternatives for a speedo/tachometer gauge for a EFI Scrambler?

Any help is appreciated.

I did mini's on my 07 using a D9 built bracket. I can try to get you in touch with D9 if you are interested.

I'd like to salvage mine and retain my true odometer info.

My dealer told me I'd lose all info if I used another instrument from the OEM.

I basically need lens and ring for both my speedo/tach gauges and headlight.
The casings are still intact.

I know one thing, speedo/tach gauge/headlight/rectifier are damn expensive from triumph.:eek1

I've got a 2012 Bonneville that I just took the headlight and black fork sleeve things that hold the light off my bike for a bobber light. I was gonna throw it in the flea market or something like it at some point if you're interested.
The lights got maybe 500 miles on her.

D9 brackets are great. Super well made and Seth works with you to get exactly what you want. I have just the mini speedo (from MikesXS; same as RMAK's speedo i guess), no tach. Not a cheap thing to get a D9 bracket but worth the $$ to get rid of the big clunker OEM.

re; the odometer; you can use a drill or wind powered prop thingy w drill bit attached to wind on a new speedo to the appropriate mileage.

One more D9 comment. I re read my post and it sounded like I did the gage work with D9's bracket. Nothing could be further from the truth. Seth did much of the work and set up and talked me through the rest. He's a craftsman of the first order and a great guy. Highly recommended.

I told you about my interest on the Scrammie on page between 500 and 700. But can't find one for a road test.
All retailers told me "try the Bonnie, it's the same".
So whe try a Bonnie, with EFI, the model with 17" wheels. For a year.I don't like so much.
Till then I've kept my old beemer, rode around Corsica with it.
But last week I can at last try a Scrammie. A 2006 one, with 11000km on it. White/red paint.
Exactly what I expected. Lot of torque, smooth schocks for the bad little roads I used to rode. And so sweeet to look at. The deal is done, just to wait 2 or 3 week. I can't wait.
