I'm up on Blue Mountain in Linden, but drive into town every day to go to work. I'm on a blue and white F800.

I am a big fan of the Hume Road to Leeds manor loop, Hume road has no markings on it, hardly any cars ever, and most of it is surrounded by open fields so you don't have to worry about some deer jumping out of the trees in front of you.

I've been thinking about Taskers Gap, anyone ever do it on a bigger DS?

I led a group of large bikes around Taskers a few years ago, but I haven't done it myself (I was on my 400). They got through and had a good time, but we did skip the hardest sections.

I will be over there this weekend if some people want to hook up for a ride. Planning to ride across Peters Mill first, then tour Taskers and back.

You could get the DL down Peters Mill. I don't know about the Taskers side though. I think it would be...interesting. Bring a skid plate!

    I'm working this weekend.

With all these locals coming out of the woodwork we need to have a local RTE soon. :deal

I haven't seen an 800 go through there(peter's mill trail), but I take my xr650l through there pretty regular with one set of tipy toes :D. The trails off the sides can get real rough, like basketball size rocks and larger, all sittin on top of the ground.:eek1 It could be an expensive ride:huh. Some of the stuff off the sides is super sketchy even on my xr400, but she is kinda heavy, unlike those fancy, orange, mountain bike lookin things I see rippin through there. :lol3

Yea whatever. Tell the folks here exactly how many times you put a foot down in those knarly, sketchy, basketball sized rocks. Hmmm?

If you just want to get in the dirt, there is a dirt road that runs right through the lower section of Taskers. I could ride it on my ST1100 probably. Anyway, it's swoopy and has some bumps and is fun ridden at speed.

You could start there, remember to purchase a permit as this is a fee area.

Hmm. I'm not a fan of basketball sized rocks or expensive rides, but I have watched a few videos and I didn't see anything that I don't think the bike and I can't handle. However, I don't think I'll be moving along as fast as those did in the videos i watched :eek1

So from what I understand, the Peters Mill section is a bit tamer than the Taskers section, and likewise for keeping on the main trail vs heading up the side trails?

You got it. :evil Taskers seems like more direction changes/options, with chunky rocks, and some tighter turns, and some switchback type of turns. The steeper switchback like turns were definitely an issue for me on the 650 cause I am vertically challenged, and, it's just a tall ass bike.:huh

There is also a more tame loop that stays on the outside, of the interior trail network for Taskers Gap ATV/OHV trails. Seems like I've seen more ATV's on it. It's more like double track, ATV wide, but not dirt road wide.
