I have a 14 up front and love it. It really helps in the dirt being 1st is sooo tall I don't fan the clutch nearly as much. I can also cruise 75mph no worries. With the 14, for some reason the front end is always in the air
I bought mine a couple of years ago, here's what the manufacturer recommended: http://www.vibranator.com/product_p/s06-s10-s11-m01-t150.htm Here are the installation instructions: http://faststi.net/pics/main.php?g2_itemId=177
I plan on installing a 14 as well, after I get past the break in period. I wouldn't trust myself with lower gearing right now. This thing just begs you to romp on it. Very trying on my part to keep calm as the hooligan in me tries to seep out!
I do go through about one a year...... I'm starting to think I should just get a good air compressor to use air tools....Then I move again and remember why I don't.
I know it is easier and less expensive to replace the countershaft sprocket than the rear....but I would change the rear for sure before going lower than 14 up front.... I always go with Ironman rear sprockets....worth a few $$$ extra: http://dirttricks.com/ And I stick w/ KTM for front sprockets because of the "shoulder" on the backside of KTM units....which is essential for proper pressure on o-ring/seals on countershaft....
Haha.. i was looking at this thinking.. that looks familiar.. I did this to mine so I could remove the air box without taking off the tanks. It works *kindof* but its still faster just to remove the tanks.
ta but I can only use KTM sprockets or sprockets that look OEM, i have been pulled for random check a few too many times to deal with the hassle. i often travel longish distance to get to dirt roads so the front would be the easiest to swap out. stock is 15 so that means you wouldnt change the front at all then.
Some days touring swiss I thought I could live there. You made me reconsider big time I'd never move to Switzerland!
Hey Steven !! i been trying to contact you for ages - didnt get my pm or whatsapp? for chocco land, it can be a bit anal with regulations etc my friend got stopped last week during a routine control , they blocked off the highway and got everyone to go thru a service area and did random checks. they were not happy he had this sprocket http://www.ktmtwins.com/ktm-950-990-adventure-super-enduro-stealth-rear-sprockets :huh
In the midst of a rebuild right now. Piston rings backordered until September, exh rocker until Aug-- anyone have a lead on a dealer with them in stock? The rocker can hold out, but I think the broken oil ring begs to differ. Rings: 75030031144 Rocker: 75036061144
It almost seems worth the effort for some billet rocker arm replacements. Are the Husaberg 70 degree engines using the same rockers as the 690?
You must have missed the part where I stated that this mod was only to be performed to 690s w/ a Safari Tank. You folks with the Rally Raid Tanks paid extra so you don't need to do this.
Sure thing. Take a look at this post: http://advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=19059731&postcount=4348 and the follow-up: http://advrider.com/forums/showpost.php?p=19428308&postcount=5203 I seen KTM didn't take my suggestion for the 2013 model. Oh well, maybe next year.....
Thanks. I have to pull my Safari tank to do some plastic welding on stress cracks in one of the back corners. That would be a good time to do some cutting.
Is that the stock regulator relocated or is that the replacement regulator we were talking about a few pages back? If it is the Roadstercycle regulator, is there any documentation on the hookup of the three stator wires? Sorry if I missed it.
That is not the stock regulator. Yep, same one from a few pages ago and I did indeed get it from Roadstercycle. I fabricated my own wiring though from components acquired from EasternBeaver.com. There are quite a few "how-to" threads/posts on the wiring but, to answer your question, the three wires from the stator can connect to any of the three inputs into the R/R. When installing the R/R it is only essential to pay attention to the + or - outputs from the R/R.
