I am aggravated by the loudness of the right hand side ticking due to rocker arm lash. Bike runs ok.. I'm a little bit not too sure - would love if one of you airhead guys would come over and give me some perspective on if my bike is running all right with good power and response and everything (yes, thats an invite to come ride my bike, I think I am now blinded by the power of hte G450 :D)
Regardless, I was looking up new rocker shims and whatnot, and came across that little confusing tidbit above.

What makes the 0.35 shim so expensive? :ear

If it won't leave an 1150GS standing, it's too slow and you need more motor.

    :deal

    You asked.

Holy frijoles I just realized... I never retimed the thing after installing the latest ME ignition map. I had a second gen edition... dated '09 or something.

    /facepalm

Yeas I have the alpha can. Evidently I had a very early version of the advance curve. While we were talking about rotors and whatnot and it was discovered I had an early system, he said "hey you might also have an early ignition map version, pull a number off of it" which I did and I did, so I got sent a the newest latest one.
Then I did a valve adjust and a carb sync and forgot to re-time it. I guess I assumed at the time that I didnt alter the can at all, so what should it matter.

But it kinda feels sluggish or something so I bet its worth seeing what I got.

...map meaning he sent you a new module, the plug-in dealie, yes?
I've been talking to Rick about some sputtering of idle, rough starting, etc.
    Is the GS dual plugged?

yes a little new plug in dealio. heck no, I'm single plugged, that dual plug stuff is comlpicated plus I'd only smack off a lower plug in the woods I bet :D HE mentioned that a little cold starting was normal.

....not really. I'm fiddlin' around still. This last time set the timing just a tad advanced, synch the carbs up to a bare idle then advanced a tcik it again to bring the idle up a tad. Bike runs better on the advanced side. But it is dual plugged.
No tree stumps to knock plugs off on this bike. :D

What was the problem Jason, were you getting off-idle stumbling?

what you mean, the current problem? no stumbling, no... just a little lacksidasical acceleration. It seems like the engine power was better before i put the new advance doohickey on. I think I just need to re-time it, and it should come back together. I think I got hte carbs synched properly.

HArd to tell, I'm such a dumbass :freaky

...join the club :D I just replaced the carbs and it still could be better, methinks it's the map to blame. :deal

Hey Yeah, timing it better helped a lot. its much more perkier now :D Still want some objective opinions, but it seems like it pulls like a truck :freaky

I was originally supposed to take the PD on that Ontario Rolling Rally this past weekend... Btw, happy memorial day, everybody... But instead I got waylaid in the bowels of Pittsburgh with a bunch of family and friends :D
Imagine eight adults, nine kids, three days, three nights, constant food, a Shit TOn of alcohol, and Lawn darts :D
Ok, so its not a rough tough motorcycle adventure in the wilds of Canadia, but I tell ya, things got so out of hand at this party I actually went GOLFING

:D Rick gave me the updated advance blackbox, and I just retimed it. Its now showing OZ or whatever, right about 3400RPM. Seems to work gud.

If I can get to it tonight or tomorrow, I'm going to attack that rockerarm shimming. RIght side= too loud and obnoxious. I got all new parts. Will see how the rum holds out :pope

My friend said "that is one messed up looking tire iron" :lol3

I am led to believe a four iron is for playing in thunderstorms, as not even god can hit one of those :lol3

My batting average on the the front nine was roughly a par eight(teen). I really wanted to roost the sand pits, and having once mowed golf courses for a living, ever so breifly, I REALLY want to see what MT91's can do to a green :evil
