Went to MotoXotica and a couple things I wanted to share.

Dan said the 630 Side stand works perfectly on the 610.:clap

And then, he said "Man, I dunno what it is about the 610, but some people break some weird parts on that bike"

"THere's you up in Seattle, you've had some strange parts, and there's a guy in Socal who lives on a boat, I Dunno what the hell he does to his bike but..."

yeah, um, so since I just moved off the boat to Seattle, I guess it's just me. :dunno

Is there any chance that something worked its way into the hole you put in your case last year? If you patched it, could some of the patch material have broken off inside the motor?

larryboy and I got pretty far into the motor tonight.

When I opened the right case there was quite a bit of metal. After checking everything, we determined it was indeed a chunk of Aluminium from the chain punch. I __KNOW__ I pushed a 1/8" by 1/2" sliver in and I never could get it back out. Now it's all ground up.

The Clutch springs are a bit torqued, and the bushing has quite a bit of wobble in it. Rob thinks that's my noise maker, hopefully Dan's got them parts and I'll get it back together tomorrow

Otherwise everything really looks pretty good.

My clutch has not been fully engaging lately and there was no adjustment left in the cable. I thought that perhaps the cable had stretched, so I bought a new one. That was not the problem.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

I pulled the clutch side cover to try the adjustment nut on the clutch. I found the nut too tight to move and had to take the plates off to be able to loosen it.

When I removed the plates I found the nut holding the clutch hub on was loose. The lock washer was bent over, so it could not have come off.

It had to have been locked on finger tight at the factory. :eek1
Torque spec is 45 Ft Lbs.

While I have it apart I will check the primary drive nut.

Tomorrow I go in search of a 1 ½” or 38 mm socket.

Just talked to xymotic who made it to Tahoe, but unfortunately not in time to ride. He said he and larryboy worked out his mechanical issues. Now he's spending time with 30+ riders in Tahoe, many who are riding buddies of his from LA. That boy is nuts.

yeah, got to be a new record for me, 2k mile 'motorcycle' trip. I've spent about 40 seconds riding the bike.

    Also left my laptop @ larryboy's house:becca

Eric, you don't get to call me nuts the way you ride your 610 all over creation. Vern and riddler signed you up for a longish ride up to the northwet

HUGE thanks to Larryboy and family for belong me fix the motor. Couldn't have done it without him:clap

The dumbass is wrong the oil pump is fully removable from the outside of the bike. No need to take the clutch cover off. In fact there is only one way to put the cover and gaskets back that makes sense. Look at the c shaped oil slots in the plate and gaskets and you want to avoid restricting flow by putting the plate or gasket on upside down. Make sure the shaft squared end engages with the crank and seats all the way in so you can put the cover on without breaking it. The pump vane does not need to be in any particular position so rotate it into a position where she drops in to the center of the pump without a fight. I hope this makes sense for you.

Oh and I do have a puller but I am 2 hours south of you. I can mail it for $5.00 if you are in a pinch and you can mail it back.

The Dumbass got it together, but it was easier to have the cover off. Besides I needed the cover off again to break the nut holding the flywheel. Now I just need to pull it. If you are around today(sunday), I can ride down and borrow your puller. Getting out to ride is not a problem:freaky

I'll send you a PM as well.

    We all enjoyed having you!!

I tell you guys, Aaron is an animal in the garage and really put in the hours needed to get his bike together!! :thumb

We put in new roller tips on the rockers, cam bearings and flipped the rocker shafts to wear on the other side until they need replacement. Pulled the stator side apart about 15 times..I haven't worked on a 610 in almost a year and I forgot a thing or two. TE510 cam chain tensioner fits and works ok. The clutch basket bushing was beyond worn out and the springs on the back of the basket don't have a lot of time left before they push thru the plate. It started right up as soon as we put the positive wire on the starter. :lol3 Sounded really nice, a little tappy on the valves until it got some heat in the engine.

I'm really enjoying my new laptop..aside from the midget porn pop-ups.:huh

How did I get sloppy thirds on my own midget porn?

Mike, I also need to return your huge black tool. Larryboy and I flogged it repeatedly, sometimes size does matter, and thankfully you were well equipped to satisfy my needs.

    Let's ride FF's!:fyyff

So, has anyone done a direct comparison of the TE630's kickstand vs. the one on the TE610?

If the TE630 stand is an easy fix for the short length of the stand that is on the 610, then I'll probably go that route to take care of the too-short-stand issue.
