No I was on the Wee, Phil was on the CRF. I was the one you followed for a little time, then turned around to find Phil...
Did I tell you I am hard of hearing and did lots of recreational drugs growing up? No, never did run into him...I think I heard him once or twice, but it's hard to tell
Awesome photos! Nice to see my home from your perspective. Next time you're in town try to hit up the Red Garter on a Thursday night and say hi!
After about 30 minutes of lazing around up top, snapping pics, sipping water and just enjoying the peace I departed back to Ruby Rd. Planned to go nice and slow snapping pics along the way. Some came out pretty good, if I do say so myself Right after this pic was taken and the camera stowed (of course!) a god damn Mountain Lion appeared on the right side of the road. You can see the small hill on the right around the corner. He or She was up there. When I was about 100 yards from it, it made it's move and literally jumped from the high ground across the road and down the hill For a second or two I was in shock!! My initial reaction was fear....gun it, get going!!!!! Then it was Fook!! I should get a pic!!! I could see it bounding down the hill as I throttled past. I stopped and whipped out the camera, but had lost sight of it. It was at least 6 foot long and a real beautiful creature.... Not the actual Lion, but added for effect
1st and 3rd normally, but if you want one on an off week, just stop by the TABB and suggest it and people will probably show up. :)
The only shot I got from my big cat adventure was returning to the bike, defeated...no pic Oh well....at least I had the experience.....now on to riding. Ruby road began to open up and smooth out lots as I went along. Really fun riding and could have gotten very silly if I was on my own steed....hate crashing other folk's stuff After 20 miles of dirt road riding bliss I came to the end of Ruby...that was some of the best, scenic and fun riding I have done in quite awhile.
Stopped into the small town of Arivaca for some H2O, snacks and see what I could see....first place I stopped at I thought was a grocer...turns out it was a private residence and they were not taking visitors Actual store....funny small world experience there. The guy working there is from VA Beach! They checked my ID while I used a CC and the guy chuckled...."We are from there?!" I thought how the hell did you get all the way out here??? The more I thought about it, the more I saw myself somewhere like this someday....just drop off the grid Not much to write about slabbing it home....it was 1pm by this time and the heat was rising. Scenery was still beautiful with blue skies, marked with puffy clouds all contrasting a very green desert... Long, Lone Highway pic... Finish this section out with a totally original idea for a pic!!! Thanks for coming along.....next will be?????
Glad you enjoyed the bike and the rides. Poor bike hasn't seen that kind of ridin' since I had my shoulder surgery in April. I'll call you tomorrow and give you another ride you have to take tomorrow afternoon/evening. Sahuaro National Park West. http://www.saguaronationalpark.com/bajada-loop-drive.html if it isn't raining go around sundown and check out the sunset. We'll talk tomorrow. Bill
Twist my arm......ok....ok...ok.....I'll ride that too Sure. Will try and get out there this afternoon after work Rock on
Well it was an epic fail..... Don't know about any other first time GoPro users, but perhaps you have some pics like this.... Video came out real good, but it such big file I can't get it uploaded....youtube has been working for 2 hours on it and smugmug gave up...
It picks the gray in your hair up well. If your brother can figure out how to use one,i'm sure you can.
Damn, UpST8 - you keep the good stuff to yourself??? :ddog I'm gonna mention this over in that Inmates thread you frequent. Looks like you're getting some excellent 2 wheel therapy while you're out there!
I found that anything over 10 mins long will be a challenge to upload to youtube. If you edit the video down to smaller parts, it should upload much more easily. Of course I'm basing that on my experience, I don't have the HD model.
Visited IronWood National Park today, real nice, smooth and fast dirt with the occasional wash thrown in for excitement....Video is poorer quality, but still kinda cool.....make sure to turn the sound off....whisteling is all you will hear.. All riding thus far has been within 50 miles of Tucson and the soft bed <object width="425" height="240" ><param name="movie" value="https://cdn.smugmug.com/ria/ShizVidz-2010071401.swf" /><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true" /><param name="flashVars" value="s=ZT0xJmk9OTgxNDU1NTYzJms9REFLRVAmYT0xMzQ2NTExOV8zRWV0USZ1PVVwU1Q4JnNlPTAmc289MCZoZGI9MSZzYj0xJmZzPTEm" /><embed src="https://cdn.smugmug.com/ria/ShizVidz-2010071401.swf" flashVars="s=ZT0xJmk9OTgxNDU1NTYzJms9REFLRVAmYT0xMzQ2NTExOV8zRWV0USZ1PVVwU1Q4JnNlPTAmc289MCZoZGI9MSZzYj0xJmZzPTEm" width="425" height="240" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowFullScreen="true"></embed></object> So freakin hot today though...think it was up to 106?! Still love riding though. The area is so different from what I am use to. Got some alright GoPro pics too... remembered my point and shoot as well... Not bad for a little after work spin
