I am filled with admiration and envy for the participants, and anticipation for the coming excitement. From an old, poor, distant and slow spectator (me), go the aussies!
I was asked today when the TV starts so I'll share. SBS1 17:30 Sunday 6th the start. Foxtel 9:30am, Eurosport.
How about a better photo of Grabbo's bike? That photo makes it look like someone has turned the sexiest bike in the world into a 5 year old's jigsaw puzzle with that orange sticker kit all randomly mismatched on the white background! Makes it look like a Land Rover attempt at panel gaps with wide gaps at one end and tight at the other:huh! Blah!! An embarrassment! Hope the next attempt is better - I understand there's a few sets with you guys. Do it again. Luckily it's not a fashion parade and Grabbo's riding skill will make up for the dodgy bros sticker work. Go Grabbo!
Just posted a stack of pictures the boys have taken on their phones over there during set up and scrutineering. http://ghrhonda.dirtbike.com.au/2013/01/dakar-2013-preparations/
Good Luck to All Australian competitors in 2013 Dakar, can't wait to watch coverage. SBS still cover it??
I've also had a call from Glenn this arvo Australian time. Things are going very smoothly. Everyone in Lima is being very hospitable. It seems that the GHR crew are well liked at the hotel.
Fill up at the servo on the way to scrutineering, the gas guy was a little puzzled at the rear tank !! ready to go Dakar 2013 with Mike Faulkner my mechanic and Garry Connell the team manager so which way is it to Santiago ?? Started documentation at 11am fnished at 1:30pm after about 25 checkpoints...............<WBR>........lots of paper work and 2 training sessions with the GPS and Iritrack systems it was off to scrutineering for another 4 hours, fitting up the GPS and Iritrack safety sytems, Mike was working hard in the Lima sun with the final wiring bits Fitting up the engine seals and final tech scrutineering, lots of guys having helmets rejected for not meeting the correct FIM standards, the chief scrutineer helped us through process, his girl friend is an Aussie !! 6 & half hours later and its all done, so the bike goes into parc ferme till Saturday and Day 1 start...............now the chance to chill for a couple of days
Full marks to the HSE Group for getting behind the Aussies at Dakar. FWIT I'm going to email them and say well done.
Yep, I just did. Groups like HSE and individuals like Garry Connell deserve all the support we can give them, even if it is only an email to say we recognise them for what they do. Rick
Do it ! Whilst some sponsors get involved because they love motorsport, many others do it simply because they regard it as good advertising and promotion for their business. And if they get feedback from people they know that their advertising is working and being seen. And if you then link a purchase to their race support it's even better and (speaking from our own experience here !) it makes the sponsor feel happy. And a happy sponsor who feels his sponsorship is producing tangible benefits to his business will reinvest in more support and sponsorhsip next year .................
Go the Aussies!! Well done for getting there. I hope you all do really well but most importantly that you all come home safe after having the time of your lives!
Yes it would be greatly appreciated if you did let HSE know that you support Grabbo in his 2013 Dakar assault, without them as primary sponsor in addition to KTM Australia he would not be here about to kick off tomorrow. It is HSE´s continued support that made it happen.... http://www.hsegroup.com.au/ Drop an email to Colin Ross at HSE and let him know what a legend he is for setting Grabbo up to show the world what he can do..............that way we can all make sure Grabbo gets back to Dakar for 2014
