You've never struck me as someone who makes decisions based on what others may think. It's a great looking ride. Get one, drive the hell out of it. Just don't take 20-somethings out to dinner in one. You'd really be looked at as a creepy bastard. (You'd get secret high-fives from the husbands in the restaurant, though. :lol3 )

I saw a red one on the freeway yesterday, much better looking in person than in pics.

I'm assuming a C6 Z51? You can get some really sweet low mileage ones around here for about 50% of that they stickered for. I test drove a 2008 at a dealer, car was spotless, at just under 15K on it.

Fuck the stereotypes. The cars are fun, and while the C5 Z06 is probably the performance bargain of the century, the C6 is a sweet car. We should take back the stereotype.

The local dealer marks every car down, regardless. New ZL-1 marked down about $5k off of sticker. Haven't checked on the new Corvette, but they had a new ZO6 there a couple years ago that was marked down over $7k off of sticker.

I bet a lot of base C7s will hit the market after the new Z06 is released.

IIRC the Z06 (not sure if C5 or the C6) has some serious handling issues when pushed to the limit. One of the better testing mags talked about it, probably does not apply for most sane drivers.

Body fat and gold chains sloshing side to side in the corners will do that.

Maybe. I think the C5 Z06 was the first completely stock production car to do the Nürburgring in just under 8 minutes. The interior looks like my Chevy Blazer, but the car will go like stink.

I wouldn't worry about the short, fat, bald, gold chains stereotype, unless it fits.:D

The new Corvette looks really nice. A daily driver that performs with cars twice the price. What's not to like?

    Doit.

Plus, of the few C7s I've seen on the road, they've been driven by anything other than the typical stereotype.

I went out for dinner and on the way home stopped by the Chebby dealership and looked from every angle for a half hour or so... :tb

Base black 1LT for 54k. Not crazy about.

Yellow convertible with yellow brakes 70k. Not crazy about.

White 2LT Z51 for 67k. Fook that is a cool car. Fook fook fook :clap:clap

    On Chebby's website now:

"The 2014 Corvette Stingray is a triumph of design and engineering. But Chevrolet didn’t stop there. With advanced technologies, a race-proven bloodline and a supercharged engine delivering at least 625 horsepower† and 635 lb.-ft. of torque, the all-new 2015 Corvette Z06 launches Stingray into supercar territory. Available early 2015."

At the intersection of Le Mans and the Autobahn sits the best of American automotive design and engineering — the all-new 2015 Corvette Z06. This world-class supercar is the closest link yet between Corvettes built for racing and the road. Created to elevate the driving experience to the next level, Z06 was engineered to be lightweight and rigid with an aluminum space frame, carbon-fiber hood and removable carbon-fiber roof panel. It was also designed to be powerful, with a supercharged 6.2L aluminum V8 engine delivering at least 625 horsepower† and 635 lb.-ft. of torque.

The 2015 Corvette Z06 is one of the industry’s only supercars to achieve over 600 horsepower and offer a choice of two transmissions – a 7-speed manual or an all-new paddle-shift 8-speed automatic. The driver-centric Z06 elevates the experience even further with technologies like a Driver Mode Selector, which allows for customization of vehicle performance dynamics with the turn of a knob. And Corvette owners can relive their drives on or off the track with the available industry-exclusive Performance Data Recorder, which records high-definition video with telemetry overlays on playback.
