I watched Eurosport's Road Book last night. You're in for a treat. :~) Have fun out there. Amazing scenery. They were saying to keep to the route in the dunes at the end. They have made several waypoints to get you through. Stick to the road book and you'll be fine.

I have only followed the Dakar Rally for a couple of years due to spotty coverage in the US. Thanks to Ned, ADV, and other participants posting, I have a whole new understanding of the passion required to participate in this event.

    I am so hooked.:D.

Ned so happy to see your bike arrived. Try to get some rest before the race and enjoy living your dream!

Now back to reading road map........

Seems like I heard something about 6:30 Local for scrutineering. A little breathing room. :eek1

That may have been BC61s time though.

The Dakar never fails to deliver drama... :eek1

Way to remain cool Ned. Hope scrutineering goes with few hitches so you can get to the "fun" part. :ricky

Like others here, the Eurosport iPhone app videos were blocked for me (they won't play in the US). But the Road Book video (the entire half-hour) is available at http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xnatrs_dakar-2012-road-book-hd_auto, for those who may be interested . . . :freaky

This is fine news! I predict that we shall not need to break out the slow clap henceforth.

Ned's sister here. We only just logged into ADV to find out that Ned and bike are reunited. Excellent news. Eleanor says "big hugs" to Uncle Ned. Love, Us

Ned's mom checking in . . . I've been on pins and needles, like everyone else. Fingers, toes, eyes, and other miscellaneous extraneous parts crossed for the rest of the pre-start details to fall into place. VERY excited, glued to the computer . . . xoxo mom:wings

And I thought us getting the truck into the container was nerve wracking! Waiting on the container to show up was even worse. Such a relief when Scott said it arrived and released!! Good luck to you all! See you at the finish!
