Canada has different laws. Sometimes not enforced, sometimes non-existent. You are partly right, adding fancy mirrors will not void engine warranty. Full Akro exh. sure will.
My modifications (this has come up in a new thread, and I came across this so I thought I'd dredge it up): The Chuckwagon has be accosted thus: Engine - carb modified and rejetted; side airbox cover v1.0 ala Creepaholic Supercrapp IDS2 - to be replaced with a Staintune Drivetrain - Regina o-ring chain KTM steel sprockets front and rear (stock sizes) Tires - tried (where I was when I had them on - so that does not mean I tested them in all conditions eh) stockers, MT17 (great but no longer available) front, Desert rear (fine, but chunked when I ground it on solid rock ), MT21 (fine) front, TKC80 rear (ok, but seemed to wear fast - in comparison to the Desert); another set of stockers going on soon... Suspension - forks - 0.50 springs (thanks KTMnate ) to go on soon; want to add Infinity Subtanks - not sure about a revalve shock - will get it rebuilt soon - maybe a new spring/revalve? oh yeah, fork protection stickers - they were a biatch to mount (for me ) and they are working their way off - worth it? Cockpit - Renazco Racing Seat - yes, it is worth the dough, but don't forget to add a pair of bicycle riding shorts with the crotch chamois (no seams! try them and you will understand); I went with the EVS Sports ULTIMATE "bruiser" shorts and they are fab (ask my Johnson and his two best friends ). pegs - yeah, yeah, maybe I'll try out the new KTM adjustable handlebars - nada, yet, except for Stenhouse Racing risers (groovy baby); I might swap the risers out for a Stenhouse Racing Scotts underbar damper mount soon Other - GPS, perhaps, since I tire of taking the map outa my backpack and searching fruitlessly for USFS roads. I would love to have a genuine Sherpa GPS mount! Miscellaneous - sidestand - soon oil temp dipstick from SommerKTM - yes I want; make that a SommerKTM credit card, as long as it comes with a translation of their LC4 catalog (with tips) second fan - cool is cool dash-mounted A/F mixture gauge with oxygen sensor in the pipe bung (no comment) hecktanks - well, there has to be something else but I am dry at the moment; off to the fridge... although with this many smilies I might need to check myself. EDIT: forgot electrical: HIDs - replace both headlights wiring - rewire the bike with larger gauge wire (hear it helps with some things)
I have an 05 640 Adv with 12000km. From new I had a high guard kit , stainetune muffler and jetted. The next I have done. Rally style bash plate with tool boxes to protect the tank Racks and soft pannier bags for the over night trips. Heated grips with new grips Real dirt tires 908RR or Motoz New Exell front rim 1.6 , ditched the very bent 2.15 rim MSC rally clamp and damper /top tripple clamp and mount raies the bars New dash with GPS mounted and hard wired Next is the forks and shock / revalved and springs Side stand ot fit with the center stand
I thought you might like to see what I just did. 1. drilled holes in both pieces 2. glued water deflector on inside (former KZ1000 chain guard) 3. glued in stainless screen between the 2 plastic parts (I need to buy a new kitchen strainer now)
Hello guys... have a few questions and i hope u can answer me. i bought a ktm 620 year 1995. its supermoto modified and it has as much as i digged out a keihin sudco fcr 41 carb. First of fist .. im not shure that its the accual carb on it it says keihin and sudco, the markings are S20A0 jh, and it has a fuel inject pump.. the ones that fcrs have. My accual question is about the airbox. i noticed that it doesnt have top cover and that it has a hole drilled on the left side of the box. is that ok ? would i gain some preformance if i mount K&N air filter on it? does anyone have a catalog number of appropriate filter ?.. what do u guys suggest.. Why am i wondering.. i guess that at low RPM when hard accelerating the mixture gets too rich or the engine doenst have enough air... i dunno not really an expert on how it should work. please suggestions .. PS: u guys rock
Sorry to bring this back up, but I have a couple questions. 1. My 06 does not have a snorkel. Any idea where I can get one? I see it in the picture here but don't see a part number. http://cyclehuttktm.com/FicheFinderNew/FicheFinder.aspx 2. My bike has an Akra exhaust. How do I know if it's full or a slip on? Reason I ask is because someone had said if it is "full" I don't need the snorkel. Is that true? 3. With the open airbox cover, do you really just keep the stock outer plastic on? I don't understand how that works, but I guess I'm no genius and don't need to understand it all! lol. If I modify the stock one, what's the best way? Can I just holesaw some holes in it and maybe put a screen over them? Talk to me goose. Thanks fellas!!
#3. I cut a rectangular hole in the stock inner cover and installed a screen over it. The I drilled a bunch of 3/8" holes in the outer plastic panel.
One way is to look at the stub inlet welded to the body of the silencer that connects to the headers. If that inlet is straight and less than 40mm long, then its a full system. If its a slip on silencer only, then that inlet is longer than 80mm and S shaped. Edit: A picture is worth 1000 words! This is the slip on silencer.
