Got in a good little ride on the Wee Strom today, thru the Jemez mountains, Santa Fe, and Cedar Crest--

Sounds like a good way to test out a 'new to you' bike!

Hey Kevin, (no pun intended), I see that your cousin finally blasted off today for the ISS aboard the Russian Soyuz. I know she had been training for a long time in conjunction with her Shuttle flight a few years back.

Yes!

I didn't get to see the launch or docking with the ISS as work sucketh but understand that all went well. She's gonna be up there for 6 months! :huh She was actually scheduled to go up on a second shuttle mission but cancelled to have a baby instead...the boy is growing like a weed now but I bet being away from him will be the hardest part for her.

Managed to get out for a little spin Saturday afternoon and hope to do the same again today.

Zig-zagged back roads past the South Mtns via Painters Gap.



































Then made a run up Curtis Creek to the BRP.

Cool and cloudy up near Mt. Mitchell but no rain.

The gate to take the FR out of Craggy Gardens was closed.





















But the elk Mtn. Scenic is fun and I even seen a black bear up top! Too fast for a pic though....so off to see if any familiar faces are at the Wedge.

















Had enough light to run the twisties through Gerton and must have arrived in Lake Lure just after a downpour as the roads were puddle wet, but no rain on me.

I HATE YOU........

Dodging T-storms kept us from making it to the blue ridge today but we still rode some fun stuff around the South Mtn area and even managed to stay dry.

Only took two pics, both while stopped in Washburn contemplating the weather.


















Just horsin' around and trying to stay under that patch of blue sky.


















Can't say that I didn't see a single drop of rain though....as it sprinkled on me walking from the shed to the house.

Played tourist and joined the Sunday drivers on the Parkway for a little while today. It felt 20+ degrees cooler up there than it did down low.














The gate to the fr out of Craggy Gardens is still closed.
