Please don't call me sir. My parents were married.....to each other!

I never liked the hard bag choices, they seem like filing cabinets hanging of the side. So I decided to go with soft bags but I was worried about how close to the muffler the left would get. So I made a heat shield. Two pieces of aluminum with spacers inbetween to give an air gap and sticky heat resistant tape on the inside. Not the most elegant but functional.

Is that a mint 64 VW bus? And why is stuff leaning on it?:eek1 Oh and nice job on da bags!

It was a fairly nice '70. Long since gone. If they only made ambition and motivation in a can I may have done something with it.

To an engineer, functional IS elegant. They look good to me.

I made an insert for the center of my FD axle so I could use my axle puller to pull the cracked wheel flanges off my GS.

kinda a simple make...a little welding, some measuring, grinding, and done. after installing the fog lights, i noticed the brackets they came with really sucked. so i made beefer ones.

Thread this stainless steel pin into the hub and hang your rear wheel on it while you insert and tighten the other rear wheel bolts. It hangs the wheel in place and makes wheel / tire changes a breeze....



Best of all, it takes about 4 minutes to make one.

I forget - been awhile. Either a 1.25 or 1.50 pitch.
I'll go check....

edit: it's a 1.50 pitch on my '04 GS1150

i did the same thing except i cut a slot across the "head" so you can use a screwdriver to turn it out..
I carry one in the tire repair kit

I knurled the end as it was easier and I'm a lazy bastid.
Made about 10 of them for friends, tool kit, etc.

What are those little bungie/tie wrap thingys you are using?

Im no machinest, so a slot will be easier for me to do.
